Funny… here I was trying to get a more flat response from the Caldera using the “thin” pads. The sound is more neutral and more similar to Susvara but it doesn’t really change resolution or detail retrieval (not that I expected it to) and it kind of loses the “magic” of the stock tuning, so for me I’d stick with stock pads.
That new ZMF Caldera LTD in Redheart on the site is to die for. Perfect headphone to fall in love with for Valentine's month. Wish I had $4k burning a hole in my pocket. But my heart is set on Atrium Closed by the end of this year! I love my Airmid too much and have committed too much to embrace another Thermionic Flame! And The VC still more than warms the cockles and seduces the ears!
I'm using the Cayin IHA 6 and it's a fantastic pairing. The Nitsch Piety, a tiny little amp based on the Schiit Magni, isn't a very good match unfortunately, but is wonderful with ZMF dynamics, especially the Verites. Go figure.
Man the Nitsch Magni Piety is actually insane value for the price & totally sounds amazing with Verite Open/ Auteur Classic (and other dynamic driver headphones).
Seriously performs at a level of $500+ amps, as they strongly advertised. It's a tonally rich amp with no bells and whistles or fancy casework.

The Piety has no business sounding as good as it does for 150 bucks, and that's coming from someone who is not generally a fan of Schiit gear. Very musical, foot tapping sound. It has great synergy with the VC, giving it that legendary 3Dness that I thought was reserved for only a good tube amp.

Wow now a recommendation for friends who can't throw all the dollars at this hobby. Sadly it looks like Schitt is no longer manufacturing
them. Saw them way up price wise on Ebay, unfortunately.

Unfortunately, the Piety was a very limited run of 1,000 units and It sold out within a couple of hours. Christian of Nitsch told me the demand for another run is quite high, but some of the internal parts are quite hard to come by, so as much as he'd like to make more, he isn't sure if that will ever happen. If it does happen it's a no-brainer buy recommendation from me, again coming from a non Schiit fanboy

From my understanding it's supposed to be the opposite of one of the newer Schiit amps, the Heresy.
Those nutty folks over at Schiit and their logic in naming things

Burn them in a bit - try an amp with slightly higher OI or different character (Caldera does change a lot with amping) - and pads. If none of those get you to where you want to be you can email us for titan mesh that we can sell you.
Awesome! Have the cowhide pads always been thin? I want to make sure I'm getting the right impressions from the others on the thread, and I may have been confused with thinking stock/suede/cowhide were all of the same thickness, then there were 'thick' and 'thin' pads aside from that. Just double checking before I nap a pair.

Oh yes there's only one cowhide config and it's thin. With it being thicker AND cowhide it just "did too much" so to speak.
Mega perf should only be used on our open dynamic models as of now - I will test on Caldera soon as well and post a graph. Video incoming shortly!
