I am curious if the foam that Zach uses in all of his headphones deteriorate at all over time.
The early HE-6 foam behind the earpads are known to fall apart but given that there is less acoustic tuning done with that one, it didn't matter much. With this, however, I would imagine it could affect the sound.
Either way, I would assume it would be either covered under warranty or a replacement/restoration on it would be an option down the line.
Really hope to get my hands on a pair of these someday, they look amazing.

I still use that as a test track!
I'm sure it was! It was a long time ago, but I can still remember throwing on an Essential Mix whenever I had to get lots of work done in a short amount of time. It kept me in the groove, and helped with pacing. I know a lot of people preferred the one in Shanghai, but Oakey's set at the Shadow Lounge in Miami was my trusty standby when I really had to get crap done.
We really need a LOVE it option. Warren, if you know of a moderator, see if you can pull some strings!
Oakenfold got too mainstream for me later on, but in the early days, dude was amazing.
Oh that's sad I was hoping price to be within $2K but I guess I will never be able to get into ZMF world.Price for stock wood(white oak) is $3499 with a release price of $3199. Ltd woods will be released in 2023.
They have headphones in that price range, and even some of the flagships can be had for reasonable prices on the used market.Oh that's sad I was hoping price to be within $2K but I guess I will never be able to get into ZMF world.
The hope is that if people end up liking caldera to use the technology in a trickle down fashion so that we can have less expensive planars. They have headphones in that price range, and even some of the flagships can be had for reasonable prices on the used market.

Yes! Depending on your musical prefs, there are great choices well below $2K in the second-hand market. And Zach/Bevin and the ZMF team are releasing a small quantity of Eikons for less than $1,500 new. Amazing headphone. They have headphones in that price range, and even some of the flagships can be had for reasonable prices on the used market.
Really? I thought the Eikon was a seriously badass headphone: exciting, dynamic, great/flat bass, real sub-bass, also a touch of that wonderful ZMF house sound. And Zach/Bevin and the ZMF team are releasing a small quantity of Eikons for less than $1,500 new. Amazing headphone.
I couldn't really connect with the Eikon or Atticus. I appreciate the Verité though. As someone in the planar camp I find the Caldera very intriguing.Really? That was the first ZMF dynamic I totally connected with, though hardly the last.
There have been some great ZMFs on the classifieds lately. I'm considering posting my Verité Closed on there because I'm loving the Caldera so much. Just be sure you read up on each model and try to narrow in on your sound preferences.Oh that's sad I was hoping price to be within $2K but I guess I will never be able to get into ZMF world.
How would you describe the sonic differences between the VC and Caldera? There have been some great ZMFs on the classifieds lately. I'm in the planar camp, too. In a big way.I couldn't really connect with the Eikon or Atticus. I appreciate the Verité though. As someone in the planar camp I find the Caldera very intriguing.
