Yamaha EPH-M200 and EPH-M100 : EPH-100 Successor
Dec 2, 2014 at 11:22 PM Post #46 of 114
I'm looking for a pair of IEMs in the range of $100-$150. I like EDM and bass, but I don't know much about sound signature and all that. Usually the EPH-100 is mentioned with VSonic GR07 BE, Shure SE215, and RHA MA750i. Having researched these IEMs, I think I would be happy with any of these. Can the people who own the EPH-M200 comment on how these new IEMs compare to the ones listed if possible? Thank you. Also are there other IEMs mentioned in the same category as the ones I listed that I should take a look at?

Received my pair of red M200. Nice evolution of yam's sound. They sound pretty good, I was hoping for more top end (sparkle) and am already missing the bass impact of my EPH-100s. I have these on burn, we'll see what develops. For $100 of amazon, I can't complain.
The M100 have dropped in price and are now $65 on amazon, wondering if I should pick up a pair and and compare the 2, it would be nice to have a pair in blue, if the M200 aren't THAT much better

You should defiantly! Only if you want to though :)

I'd like to know how much of a difference the M200's are over the EPH-100s :)

I bought my EPH-100's for dirt cheaper (AU$35) so I'm in no rush to upgrade them but when the time comes what they eventually break I may consider getting the M200's :)

Thanks for the initial impressions! Please keep us updated. What other IEMs do you own that you can compare with? I am on the fence on these IEMs and hoping it's what I'm looking for.  So the bass from the EPH-100 sounds better for you?

Looks like the major difference for the M100 is the lack of titanium tubes. The drivers are the same as the M200 according to Yamaha's product info.

Also, it looks like tips with narrow openings like the Westone star tips or Shure grays can fit on the M200 with a little effort. Anyone planning to try any of those ear tips on the M200?

There were certain characteristics that made the eph100 special and a big one was clarity. They are very clear, especially for being driver based. They also had really well balanced mids, more forward which honestly most of the music is.
Yet still has an impactfull kick to the bass that is never ever roomy.

If the price of the EPH-M200 at $98 isn't a price you are comfortable with, you can always buy a pair in "Brack" for $230.00

I'd rather pick up a used pair for $1,720.51.
