Woo Audio wa6se and headphone synergy

For my taste I feel HD650 has better synergy with WA6SE rather than HD800 or T1, though if I got force to choose, I still prefer HD800 than T1 to pair with WA6 SE.

LCD2 is awesome via WA6 SE indeed.

I have listened to T1's, HD800, and Audeze LCD 2 with my WA6SE. All sound good, but I prefer both the T1's and Audeze LCD 2's over the HD800. I think Jack Woo recommends both the Audeze LCD 2 and T1's with the WA6se. Since they sell those headphones, he is can help match the headphones to the best amp. I have found his recommendations useful. He can also help with tube selection, since he has tested many tube combinations with their amps over the years. Mike

I have listened to T1, HD800, Audeze LCD 2 with my WA6SE and all sound good. I prefer the T1's and the audeze LDC 2's. I listen mostly to classical and jazz. Jack Woo sells both of those headphones and can give you advise on how different headphones match up with different woo amps. He can also help with tube selection. I have found his advice in the past to be very helpful. good luck

I've listened to a lot of phones (see my profile) with my WA6 SEm (Blackgates and the other goodies)... and... they all sound SUPERB with it.

Right now... I'm being "awed" by the PS1000's and PS500's - there is nothing better!

How's it going? I am about to buy my wa6-se. I have a pair of hd 650's right now.
My question is what's the best DAC to pair with my iPod and the woo? Also what other pair of headphones would you recommend next? Price is no factor.

if you love the HD 650s sound and want to upgrade, get the LCD-2

same smooth warm sound, but a little cleaner sounding, with more bass slam, and better overall sound and more detail. they're my favorite headphone along with the beyerdynamic T1.

other good matches with the WA6-SE are the K701/Q701

i've heard like 15 different headphones with the WA6-SE and they all sound great!

currently running ed 10s through my wa6se and i feel that they pair well together.  However id like to tone down the brightness a little. Any suggested tube and rectifier combinations? I'm using stock tubes now and the sophia princess rectifier.
On another note. I've dropped down to my 650's while my ed 10s are gone and I am depressed with how "dead" they sound. I am truly missing the ed 10s.  Heard a lot of bad reviews about them but my experience has been astounding. They literally ruined my other headphones for me.

If the Ultrasones are bright the same way the Beyer DT880's are bright, my favorite (and current) tube combo is a pair of NOS Sylvania 6FD7's and a NOS JAN 5931 with the big brown base.

I have also recently ordered the WA6se and am looking forward to testing my different headphones on them. My most recent pair, HiFiMan he-500 don't seem to open up very well with my Beyer A1 ss amp. I spoke with Jack Woo recently and he assures me that the WA6se will have plenty of power to make this can shine. The amp I believe puts out 2 watts at 32 Ohms. I'll let you guys know how the he-500 performs when the amp arrives ... likely in about 2-3 weeks. Also, I asked about the internal upgrades for the wa6se. They are no longer available on this amp.

WA6SE has internal upgrade? I thought that is only an option for WA6 to make it sounds almost like wa6se. Anybody else heard that wa6se ever has internal upgrade? now i'm curious.

A couple of years ago there were upgrades for stepped attenuator, black gate caps but this option is no longer available.

Thanks! I hope it doesn't take too long. Jack said about 2 weeks but most of those who have purchased from Woo say 4-6 weeks.
