Why the Beats Hate?

Oh, the downside is that they get fatiguing after an hour (or it could just be that I'm really tired) but if they didn't sound so closed in, they'd get more headtime than my SA5000. But as it stands, they're going to my sister.

That's probably my biggest complaint about them. It feels like the driver is chillin' on my eardrum and only gets harsher as you crank them up.

The best way I know to describe the Pros vs a good pair of studio headphones (something higher than m50s for sure), is that the studio headphones is a really nice high-end home audio setup, when the Pros are a high-end audio setup with two nice 12" subs. You still get your mids and highs well, but the bass is much more present, punchy, and tight.
 
Running the Pros through an amp with treble and bass boost listening to bass heavy dubstep can have bass so punchy that you can feel your teeth grind on each other. They don't get distorted, even at really high volumes or with really heavy bass. The all-metal design allows for really nice bass response.
 
Listening to non-bass heavy music can be done well with a bit of a boost on the treble, everything is really clear and bass is not the least bit overpowering.
 
Tl;dr: The Pros have a fun sound signature but nowhere accurate.

Here's my story with the Beats
 
You know what's funny a colleague from work has Dr.Dre Beats Solo HD or whatever it was, and I've heard them, they've got huge unnecessary bass through his phone with MP3 music, after that I let him listen to FLAC (He didn't know what it was) music through my TAB 3 and he said the quality was bad I tried to hear the music through Beats and it really was horrible and then I told him I'm getting some quite a bit better value, Audio Technica ATH-M50 and like 2 days after I appeared with them at work, he said they're horrible looking and he wouldn't want to be seen in public with them. After that I let him listen to music through them and he said they sound awesome, and started saying BS as if he's an audiophile (The mid-bass or mid-treble I don't remember what he said don't care) was bad and there's no sound separation. Later when I sent him an email at work he didn't even answer me, the mail was about if he knows what the heck is a DAC
 
Anyway short version: Beats - for fashion and people who want to be deaf by the age of 50 and everything else for sane people who enjoy music.

Hmm...if you listen to music very loudly, then yes. Actually, you can be deaf at the age of 50 with, I dunno, every headphone in the universe. Other than that, you're absolutely right. XD

Why I meant specifically these (Dr.Dre Beats) is because the bass pulsates into your ear, you should figure what that can do.
The ATH-M50 has bass but doesn't kick your ears in the stomach (pun intended )
So do my HD700 in some cases their bass just amazes me

I guess that's true, but I don't know...my IEMs blast their sound into my ears better, but maybe because they're shoved into my ears. I don't listen to music loudly, so I guess that contributes to my...er...objection.
 
I don't see how an HD700 could be bassy. It's the little brother of the HD800, which was also tuned to be flat. The Fidelio X1 is an open basshead can, so I guess that'd fit the bill better. I guess you're pretty sensitive when it comes to bass, huh?

It's the overbearing treble on some so called "high-end" headphones that do your hearing the most damage. Much more so than heavy bass cans.
 
Not defending Beats, as they really do sound horrific. But some basshead cans are a lot of fun and don't sound too bad at all.

On the flipside, that perception of grating treble might make people turn down the volume (or sell the cans altogether), but the "fun" sound encourages them to turn it up. Basically, it can be the other way around.

Oh. I must have forgotten. Well, from the looks of it, it does look quite bassy.
The LCD-2 and 3, though, has probably the best bass response in Summit-Fi...or so I read. I've never been able to see one IRL, and I probably never will until ~10 years from now.

That's because 90% of the "dubstep" you hear these days is a abominable bastardization of the genre.
This is a decent example of what the genre originated as.  Actually pretty calm and smooth.  Not the ******* mess that you hear post-skrillex.  Everything post-skrillex really needs a new genre classification.
