I don't really see why it is a joke if someone wants to find perfect synergy between components in their high end setup. That's the point of a high end setup, to make it sound as good as possible. And HD800's are transparent, revealing and technically advanced enough to show clear differences between setups.
Well to each their own, there are people that just want enjoyable stuff out of the box, which I guess is the case with beat headphones, with people plugging them straight to their ipod.
At the opposite side of the headphone spectrum, you have the hd800, and you are told they are very finicky regarding the rig , and this is often the explanation given to people that didn't enjoy them.
But imho, when people begin to look at the best cable to improve sound, you know there must be a problem somewhere.
The reason people buy them in the first place is to be popular. They don't care about sound,and the reason they deny that there are better options for less money is because they don't like to be proved wrong. I was once a beats fanboy,lucky for me i'm not a stubborn like the rest.

Well how is it a problem? It's just part of this hobby. If you don't want to look into cables, no one is forcing you to. I mean we are all enthusiast, right? I'm willing to spend time and effort to match a headphone with an amp, but if you don't want to, you really don't have to. You can just get a Momentum or something that can be powered by an ipod.

Because they've never heard another pair of decent headphones, THAT'S why. Or their listened to good headphones plugged into some crappy device using compressed mp3's. I'd really like to see anyone without hearing problems saying that Solo's sound better than HD25's, both used with a good source and amp that can push properly.

If full means overly bloated bass, sure, I gladly admit that 99% of audiophile headphones aren't full. However, go ask any skilled music producer. They will easily tell you that beats are not a good headphone, and the music they recorded aren't meant to be heard that way. There were times that I thought more bass was better, but now, it's all about the clarity.

Why do you think that? You think that people dislike Beats because they are Beats? How do you think they got their reputation? By people saying, without ever listening to them: "ok, so these are the new beats, lets all hate them, just for the sake of it"? No, people actually listened to them, and realized they're bad for the money.
I find it ridiculous when people bring up badges in discussion, as if badges make us develop opinions on headphones. Trust me, NOBODY who's a serious audiophile cares AT ALL about a badge. You think anyone would buy a Beyerdynamic T1 over a Sennheiser HD800 because he's a Beyer fanboy? Or other way around? Don't be ridiculous. We don't care about badges. I couldn't care less whether my headphones have Shure or Sony written on them. I don't see them when they're on my head anyway. Its sound > comfort > *a big gap* > badge.
