Which open Headphones project the Soundstage in front of you

i am looking for some open cans, that will be able to build a large soundstage. by that i mean it should not only expand to the sides, but also in depth. a little bit like crossfeed would do.
 
soundsignature is not that important. price could be up to 600$.
 
the best i heard in terms of soundstage was the sennheiser hd598. but maybe you have better suggestions.

It hasn't been invented yet.
 
You likely listen to stereophonic recordings which are 2 channels, left and right, which give you the illusion of directionality. The best you can hope for is a greater depth of those 2 independent audio channels in a headphone like AKG K701. Alternatively listen to higher bit recordings like binaural and quadraphonic.

but there must be phones that are able to put you in the 6th row of the audience, because even an inear like the ie8 is able to to so.
the hd598 also, so i wonder which alternatoves to them are out there.

The best soundstage that I have heard for under $1600 is the Sennheiser HD598 which you have heard. I haven't heard the cheaper Stax though.

Every month or 2 one comes up for $1200 or better.
 
After that, you *could* go insane on speaker amps. Or you could just buy a nicer old integrated receiver from your local thrift shop for $25 and call it a day.

You can do a search on head-fi to find that thread (not too long ago) on sound stage, but the short version is that our brains put the sound stage together based on the time lags of sound hitting our right and left ears along with direction. Given the exceedingly short distance between the headphone and your ear, the real-life situation is next to impossible to reproduce though the K1000s (I've only heard them at a meet) come really close. Extraordinary experience.

You could try this. As I say it comes down to the recording moreso than the headphone.

come on there are big differences in soundstage projection of many hps. so why is it impossible to list the goods?

Or try this AstoundSound out, it can decode 5.1 surround with a normal pair of stereo headphones pretty well.
