Whats a good headphone with a lot of bass but still balanced?

A little Sansa Clip+ is enough to drive the D2000 to ear-splitting volume. It's one of the easiest full-sized headphones to drive.

Ear-splitting might be an exaggeration, but 115dB is nothing to scoff at.

is e7 enough to amp d2000?

Based on listening levels alone I believe the E7 has 60 steps on the volume. 13 is what I use and 16 is rather loud to me, this is coming straight out from a cd-player.

Edit: I just did some listening with the D2k on E7 only then switched over to only the E9. Matched levels with a SPL meter. No contest. The E9 makes the D2k almost sound like a different headphone. Everything is a lot tighter, bass is really fast and not bloated at all with E9. The high's sound more detailed also. I wasn't expecting this big of a difference honestly. This makes me wonder what even higher quality amps would sound like... there goes my wallet...

D2000's are so easy to drive even a nascar driver could drive them, that said, they do sound rather nice through the FiiO E7/E9 combo, but even better through the HiFiMAN EF2A with Mullard tubes, beware though, the EF2A is very gainy, only need a slight nudge on the volume to make your ears bleed.

Do HiFiMAN EF2A also work as a DAC?
