I've always been of the mind that if you know you're going to go for the top eventually, you might as well start there. Unfortunately I'm really hooked now; I've gotten my parents to agree to getting me a SR-009 & BHSE in around five years instead of a car or down-payment on house.

In that much time SR-0011 will available.

I hope not, I don't think I'll be able to convince them to get me a $10k headphone.

Wow lets see,

Purchased Senn HD-650, Clip+ 4gb, Fuze 4gb, Bottlehead Crack w/ Speedball, Fiio E11.

I was given a pair of Klipsch Custom 3, which I use every day at work.  I won a pair of Klipsch S4i, wich I gave away to a buddy that wanted to try IEM.

Previous had SR-60 and used my cell phone as a source.

I'm new to headphones but not to Audio. I spent a month here reading and investigating before joining.  I was sick of listening to tinny MP3 when I travel.

So after the month of investigating I decided to start with:
Cowon J3
Audeo PFE112
A-T M50s

So far after getting my ears on them for a bit, they seem like a decent place to start. Looking forward to trying a few more brands as I investigate the different sounds.

My first headphone purcase after coming to Head-fi was Sennheiser HD595; after that I purcase another two headphones: Beyerdynamic DT990 (2005/250 Ohmi) and Akg K701.

I saw the k701s in public, went online and found this place. The first photograph I saw on Head-Fi was k701s at a show with Tyll Hertsens. I thought wow, these guys are really into headphones. They are world class headphone geeks. Little did I know what was in store! k701s were purchased.
