What was your first headphone purchase after coming to Head-Fi?

Pair of nos hd-480 IIs (600 ohm) which I like for their astounding midrange qualities...luscious and warm. Highs freq response is hashly attenuated tho... '-( Bass is nice, warm more than punchy. Then I found a pair of old Yamaha HP-2's in my studio's basement. These are outstanding. Incredible smoothness over the entire spectrum. May be due to it's planar transducers. Detail apprehension completely overwhelms the Senns (and various other studio cans I use) However (and this is the big however) i'm quickly realizing the difference between "analytical" and "fun" cans. For some reason, although i know i'm not hearing butloads of stuff going on in the upper freq's the 480's are really fun to listen to! Now I have a META42 on the way. Guess i'll be eating Ramen next month. ;-(

1. HD580 - Loved them but everybody had 600s, sold them.
2. HD600 - Loved them a little more then HD580s and still have them.
3. Ety ER-4p- Still breaking them in

Purchased my HD 580s after one night on head-fi.

1) Ety ER-4P
1.5) Ety ER-4P -> S adapter
2) Grado SR225

Before Head-Fi, had a bunch of crappy 'phones, although I did have some Senn 414's 'back in the day' that were ok to the best of my recollection.

1) Shure e2c for iPod
2) Beyerdynamic DT531 for computer usage (absolutely awesome!)

Both purchases have been highly researched and I have been happy after each pruchases regarding value and quality. I knew what was coming when I recieved both and was happy to see my research was correct. Both are getting used and were HUGE imporvements over what I had before (iPod earbuds and Maxell HP2000 respectively).

Alessandro MS Pros, to join the Ety 4p's I already own.

Been lurking on head-fi for about a year, and am now tempted to spring for a tube headamp like a Singlepower, perhaps. Currently using the headphone out of the Meridian 551 (it has a built-in headphone amplifier)--sound isn't shabby at all, but I'm curious to see how much better it can get.
