What headphones do you have, and what do you still want?

See my signature for what I've owned, I have all of the Shure SRH headphones, and now that I've just gotten the 940's the only thing I want now is more music to enjoy with them. For the first time I can truly say I'm done looking for headphone nirvana because I've found it.

I hope you find it. Sadly, there isn't a one size fits all headphone for people to achieve this with. I've found it with the SRH940, hopefully you'll find yours soon!

Have:

[AKG]
K26P

[beyerdynamic]
DT231 Pro

[Philips]
SHP805
SBC-HP460

[Sennheiser]
HD540
HD420SL
HD590
HD535
HD424

Want:
Some decent IEMs or anything else that'll give me better isolation (and comfort) for portable use while not sounding like poo
HD480 (II) 600 ohm version
HD650s (or something with the same sound that's more comfy) with a good amp <-- definitely "milestone: future", possibly never...
I certainly wouldn't mind getting to listen to some more stuff, including 'stats.
I've had the 424s since the 70's and am looking for something with a similar sound that isn't 2000 ohms and easier to drive. So, how would you compare the 420sl to the 424s? I like the bright lively sound of the 424s, and find most newer Sennheisers to be too bassy and soft in the high frequencies.

Basically I always want the latest pair of headphones I read great reviews for. So Tyll Hertsens puts the Focal Spirit up on his Wall of Fame. It makes me want them. Then I read great things about the Aeon, so I thought I had to have them. Then I read the Focal Clear reviews. Had to have them, too. Now I just read a great Amiron Home review. Now I want those. I have to stop reading headphone reviews!

From all the reading I've done on headphones, I'm curious about the following ones. Since I would never consider spending more than a thousand bucks on a pair of headphones, the Clear would have to come down in price like the HD800 did.

AudioQuest NightHawk
Beyerdynamic Amiron Home
Focal Clear
Koss ESP950

Sennheiser HD700
Sennheiser 660 S
Sennheiser HD800

Closed-back:

MrSpeaker Aeon (currently $799)
Audio Technica ATH-MSR7 (currently $149 on Amazon)
Focal Listen (currently $149 on Amazon)

Huge price difference between the first and last two closed-backs. I'll probably go with the Focal Listen. If I don't like it, try the Audio Technica, then see if the Aeon comes down in price in the next few years.

Currently, I'm doing almost all of my listening on Hi-fiMan HE560. Like it a lot, but curious about the upcoming Sundara.

Attention: necro thread.
Oddly enough, the 2kOhm HD424 is rather easier to drive than the 600 ohm HD420SL. I am guessing that it's a rather high-efficiency driver - which would also explain why bass response takes a nose dive below about 200 Hz already (those familiar with loudspeakers may have noticed the typical tradeoff between efficiency and bass response at a given size). Part 2 contributing to its relatively bright sound is the ~2.5 kHz peak, which is rather larger than it should be according to newer research.

I'm afraid 2 kOhm HD414/424s are a remnant of days past and there would have been very little incentive to make anything similar in newer times.

EDIT: LOL @ my signature, looks like I last updated it in like... 2008 or so?

I have the Fostex THX00-PH, AKG Q701 and Beyerdynamic T70 250 ohm however I still want one more headphone. It will be either the Sony MDR Z1R, Pioneer SE Master 1 or the Beyerdynamic T5P. I'm tempted to choose the T5P over the other 2 as I have some listening time with the Astell and Kern T5P and was blown away by the sound, but they became faulty after just a few weeks of ownership.
