There’s a whole parrot tree a bit south of the serpentine. They’re bold. They’ll sit on your finger if you let them (I’m too much a delicate princess for such bold displays)
Is the green parrot an escapee?
That's very interesting,. We have a similar thing here in Arizona. 25 or so years ago a bunch of lovebirds escaped from a pet store and now we have several colonies numbering in the hundreds. Here is the fountain in my back yard, a common sight:Possibly, there are now a fair number of green parrots in London. The original ones escaped or were released by people who couldn't be bothered to care for them but I believe they are now breeding in the wild. They tend to be found in small groups and bully native birds to get access to food.
I'll add some Nescafe to the fountain for them.Hey! Aren't we supposed to be talking about coffee on Head-Fi?
I'll add some Nescafe to the fountain for them.
I wonder if this will speed up their flying!
I'll test this on my cat, maybe he can going up the stairs even faster?
They are called Parakeets and they have been in the UK for quite a while now. You can hear them and sometimes see them in pretty much any park in the South of England. In my old house in Surrey I used to get a flock of them squawk over every evening on their way to roost for the night. Very loud creatures!
