No, not anymore all paint over here is alkyd-based know. So it has relatively low amounts of the fun fumes.
Even the ones for outside use are low in solvents. Has to do with health and safety regulations for pro-painters.
Its funny how we(and the french) just pick another animal all together. The germans say Ganzehaut if I`m not mistaken which is also gooseskin.
We say kippenvel, the french say chair de poule hohn hohn hohn and both mean chickenskin.

For Portuguese-Spanish I can say that if you are not a completely dumb person you can understand the other reasonably well if you speak on of the languages. I worked with an Argentinean and we understood each other very well, just some minor bumps along the more complex topics or some specific words. I also did the same on a training that was done in Italian, but it was much harder to understand.

Spanish and Portuguese have a very close relationship and do closely resemble each other. They are from the West Iberian branch of the Romance languages.
