Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread

I have w4r for 3yrs. And I love them.
Recently, I've purchased T1 and I'm not freaking happy with my new purchase. I don't even know that my new headphone can be counted as upgrade or not. My dac/amp is modi/vali.
What's your idea on T1 vs w4? Do you think that a dac/amp upgrade can make dedifference?

Edit: which one do you consider as an upgrade to w4? Hd800 or t1? For the one who is in love with the midrange of w4r.

I've had W4 T1 and HD800. I've had them all at the same time believe it or not. There is no contest for me. The HD800 wins hands down. It is the width of the sound stage that you will instantly be startled by the silkiness of the mid range will hopefully impress you too. And there's plenty of bass there. It is so good. And that's after owning Ciems LCD 2.2 Stax Sigma T1 Alpha Dogs AD2000s and god alone knows what else I've listened to: SR009s HE560 LCD 3 PS1000 AK1000 Alpha Primes SR007s even the Sennheiser Omega.
All phones at that level have a greatness about them and the T1 is no exception.
But the HD800 is still my favourite so far. So given a choice between the T1 and the HD800 I'd have to for the Senns.

the right channel of my W4R is not working, yesterday fine, today not working. Any particular reason why and more importantly...any way to fix this?

If you've already tried swapping sides and/or cables, you're probably out of luck as everything I've read concerning Westone is that they're not repairable.

From what I've read, Westone will offer you a "discount" on a newer model since they're non-repairable.

tried 3 different cables and yes tried swapping the channels around. no luck.

i have exactly the same problem - a year ago my right channel on my W4Rs stopped working and no amount of tweaking has made any difference. Could 2 left drivers be put on to the cables to rectify this?

Inside IEM nozzle it have some, kind of filter. Maybe this filter have being mooved, that bloque the sound!

My W4's broke last week.  Nozzle just snapped right off where the tips fit on.  Any W4 lovers have some good recommendations for IEMs they like?  Whats the Westone um3x equivalent model these days?  Not looking to spend what flagships go for right now (...less than $500).

I went from W40 to Noble 4U, and in my opinion it was an upgrade. Same reference type of sound without the Westone mid bass hump

find someone with a working side of the W4R who's willing to sell. it's a win win for both of you. there's plenty of broken W4R out there that there must be someone with either working left or right side.
