I think we need a W5000 amp meet! It'd be interesting to see how some of these amps compare and contrast.

The AT-HA5000 isn't too concerned about the M^3, Corda Opera or the Raptor.

It's a bit worried about the EAR HP4, Yamamoto Soundcraft HA-02, SinglePowers and balanced amps, though.

When do you expect to take delivery on those and do a comparison?

I have tried W5000 with EarmaxPro didn't like it. It loses all the depth, and texture, and bass, too smooth, it became boring.

W5000 out of iPod -> Supermacro IV(Bass Boost on)-> It sounded marvelous!!

New member of the W5000 team with Headamp GS-1 here.
Mind boggling details resolution, 3d soundstage with excellent positioning, non fatiguing highs probably due to slightly warmer than other Gilmores GS-1 signature. And very well articulated bass.

I have my W5000 for more than 6 months. Lovely cans. Works well with my Lehmann BCL, impressed me with the LaRocco Pocket Referece II, and really shines its glory with my WA6. Yes, it love tubes!

Andrew_WOT, I wouldn't assume the GS-1 is not as good as the AT-HA5000.

I listed the RSA Raptor along with the AT-HA5000 as an amp that I think matches well with the W5000. Given the number of amps in the list, I believe the W5000 matches well with a wide variety of amps. True, it is sensitive to amplification and source, but as long as the source is good and the amp is decent, the W5000 should do well.

Preferences will determine whether one prefers one amp over another for the W5000. For example, the AT-HA5000 has a larger soundstage, more air, more details, and better imaging than the Raptor. But the Raptor has more body, smoothness and greater mid-bass impact. For some music I might prefer the W5000+Raptor.

The same goes for the W5000+Lehmann Black Cube Linear combination. I just don't think the Lehmann BCL matches as well as the other two amps. It is thinner-sounding, a bit bright and tonality seems a bit off.

I am no longer a part of the ATH-W5000 family since I traded them away for an iMod and cable. I still have my AT-HA5000 though and still enjoying it with my new headphones.

Agreed that W5K loves tubes. Which opamp did you try with the the PRII? I like the PRII with the OPA637 for the W5K, but still not as much as with the EarMax Pro.
