Wow that was a lightening quick sale lol

Certainly didn't hang around.

Anyway not long got back from the gym, for those curious about their staying power i can report they are damned excellent.

Really good staying power, no matter what phones i have they always try to slip out of my right lug,
not sure what's going on there, guess i must have an odd shaped canal.

But not the Vsonics, try as my ears did, they did not hardly budge. Felt like they were going to, but despite my sweating buckets they stayed put,
that for me is the ultimate fit test.

Don't know if it's the burning in or my installing android 4.2.2, but these phones sound even better. The bass has tightened up a notch, the vocals smoother and the treble has a touch more sparkle.

I am really impressed with these little phones. Can't wait to try them with my wireless unit, i can mooch around the gym doing whatever i fancy with no cables getting in the way.

Superb.

Edit - Ok that's done it, now they get on with my Colorfly C3, the only player that i couldn't match any phones with, they love each other.

Good thumping bass, with clear vocals and just the right treble. Nice and spatial i'll have to put these against my EPH100's on the Rocoo, just to see which is a better pairing now.

Geko - Get em, get em now........

Haha gawd that's quite some excitement you're expelling there.

I'll definitely consider them for a next month purchase when they get it back in stock.

So they are good with trance too?

Have to say yeah, might be player dependent, i'll have a fiddle later and see how they stack up against my yammies.

Id say they're quite spatial, but i really do like the slightly forward mids, makes them a nice all rounder good with rock as well.

As for expelling any excitement, been many years since i've had the chance to

Yeah Geko, get'em. For sure.

Hm, with these great cheapies the question is always whether one should buy them if one already has better phones... I've accumulated quite a few that are superb value for money and enjoyable listens, but ultimately don't bring enough to the table to take away ear time from my better ones. Bargain impulse vs. voice of reason...

Hmm... yeah that would be great.

I feel that the Tenores have already stolen listening time away from my Yammies, so I'm quite positive the VSD1 can do that as well.

Did you compare them to the Bassos yet?

Pretty sure almost everyone on Head-Fi would like the answer to that question...

Nah, it's not an impulse for bargain purchases - it's a hobby like any other. Like an art collector - he'll always have that one piece that is the best in his collection but that doesn't diminish the quality of the rest of his pieces. Or a watch collector, who has found his holy grail watch but still has a bunch of other watcher, which might be cheap bang for buck ones but are great everyday beaters and he still uses them.

I do get more enjoyment from the cheaper stuff that proves to be a great performer sometimes better than a lot more expensive stuff than from the high-end stuff. With expensive iems and headphones you expect them to perform well above average in accordance to their price but often they still might turn not on par with your favorites. And bang for buck products will never let you down coz you didn't spend a lot of money and they can be great for the gym or for gifts to family members and friends. And occasionally a cheapo appears that puts a wide smile on your face and that's when you realize what this hobby is all about.

And in the end those cheap bang for buck performers are great for keeping the audio addiction in check until that one high-end model that grabs your attention comes along. And I've said it before but buying audio gear is not a particularly expensive hobby compared to a lot others.

Woah dude paragraphs ever hear of them?

It's that whisky isn't it.

Yeah, sorry - I have a friend from out of town staying at home for a few days and drinking is a bit more than usual - that's why I can't get to reviewing the VSD1 let alone using the ENTER button LOL

edit: I fixed it - hope it's more to your liking now

I think it's about time to really start HYPING these now.

After using them for the last days I must say that I now find them superior to the GR06's and at least on par with the CKN70's.

They have a really smooth and nice sound that makes them a great allrounder. The fit is absolutley wonderful. They stay in using work outs and doesn't stick out from the ear at all. You can easily sleep with these.

My only complains is that none of the including tips fit me (I've got very small earcanals) but I did find some foam tips of unknown origin lying around at home that is perfect for these. The other CRAZY thing is that these are way more comfortable wearing over the ear then straight down. These must have been designed to be used over ear. The weird thing is that wearing them over the ear puts the right driver in my left ear and the other way around. This is a really stupind mistake from the designers.

For the price of USD 37 they are just unbelivable good sounding IEM's!

HMU with some of your sets and I'll take a listen. I can say that the trance I currently listen to is pretty nice on the headphones, but it is not my main genre.

I had the pleasure of switching between them while listening to laser kissed vibes #18 (and now #26) while doing yard work. Make doing yard work rather enjoyable

To me, the vsd1's entire signature is more forward, so you're slapped in the head with sound. Lots of bass. Forward mids. Very nice treble. Overall a very big, full, satisfying sound.

With the Bassos, the bass and mids are a bit farther away than with the vsd1's (ie they are not recessed, but they are more recessed than with the vsd1's). The Basso's bass is ample and very nicely controlled, but not as much thump as with the vsd1's - I would venture to say that the vsd1's have more mid-bass, whereas the Basso's more extended into the sub-bass regions. Although the vsd1's treble is actually surprisingly good, the treble of the Basso's is more detailed, refined and sparkly. I get a sense of more space with the Basso's - a deeper soundstage - they sound more airy.

Knowing that you are a bit of a treble-head and like the Tenores so much, I would venture to say that you would prefer the Basso's over the VSD1's for trance - the Basso's would I'm sure have ample bass for you, and they have more layering, are more airy, and the treble is a bit more detailed/sparky/refined.

For me? I'm loving both of them for trance to be honest. The vsd1's extra bass and forwardness forces you to get engaged with the music. The Basso's deeper soundstage, sense of space, beautiful bass and more refined treble is amazing. Loving them both.

Btw, this is through my clip zip and C&C BH. Also, the vsd1's have only about 24 hours of hard burn in on them so far. Time to get back to the yard work with more vibes! :)
