Anybody with the EXT Mark II find that the two-pin connectors on other cables are sometimes simply too loose?

Nope it’s actually the connectors of EXT II are most probably loose. I had the same issue with OG EXT and had to send for repair. Luckily it was under warranty then but still had to pay for shipping . After replacement never had issues again.

How does it compare with Volur ?

Yeah I figured it had to be an issue with the EXT II themselves. I think Bloom will make this as painless as possible.

The Volur and EXT Mk II are like first cousins. A very similar sound signature and execution - biggest differences being in the mids and highs but they are small differences.

I have the opposit problem.
My connectors are a way to tight and I had problems while pushing the pins in.

These 2-Pin connectors are a joke for any iem in my opinion.

I didn’t think the two were alike at all tbh, I didn’t mind the Volur but it was pretty safely tuned to my ears and nothing really stood out as being exceptional. EXT II’s mids are on another level imo, they are much more emotive and less two-dimensional sounding, more tangible and holographic. The mid bass is more textured and has more punch compared to Volur but I’d say Volurs sub bass has slightly more presence and rumble. Treble sounds lighter and more whispy on EXT II and feels like it extends better (probably due to more linear FR), volurs treble was probably more natural sounding but the peak in the upper treble made it sound more uneven.

I also have the looseness problem with my OG EXT… contemplating sending them in for a service after seeing this. Mk2 has no such issues luckily.

I agree with some of that comparison - the bass comparison is spot on. The mids of the EXT II are definitely more tangible and more present, but I found the Volur mids to be close in quality, just being a bit less foward - in general the soundstage of the Volur was deeper, and I think a lot of the reason why was the mids. I like the mids of the EXT II just slightly better but I do feel I sacrificed some soundstage depth .I agree the EXT II treble feels a bit more linear, the Volur has a bit more sparkle.

I boost the sub bass on my FiiO to compensate on the ext ii

Differences in impressions could come down to sources tbh, EXT OG and EXT II scale like nothing else I’ve heard. I’ve heard them through the Cayin RU6 and Hiby R6iii for example and didn’t think they were anything special, through the Cayin N7 + C9ii they are the best thing I’ve ever heard - they transform to sound like open back headphones. Through the Astell&Kern CA1000T they are also exceptional, I feel like 64 audio IEMs are much better in that regard… a lot more consistent across sources.

Finally got my VE10s after 2 weeks in customs purgatory. My first pair of Vision Ears IEMs, am really enjoying them so far - very different ss to my other gear (which is why I bought them), so am going through all my mid-friendly music to let them shine

Good heavens, I don't think I've ever heard the violin sound as sweet as through the VE10s. It's exactly what I bought them for. None of my other IEMs are great for classical (which only makes up about 10% of my listening in any case), but this is sublime.

What other genres do VE10 owners most enjoy them with?

Anything with drums in is just a joy to listen to with VE10.

I went to my go to drum test track, Moby Dick live off How the West Was Won, and you're right - sounded amazing.

I'm trying to understand this IEM better. What is it about it's tuning or design that makes it so good with drums? Is it just that forward mids give more punch to drum sounds? Or is there more to it than that?

I think it’s to do with how they’ve sized the bore of the tube used for the DD (if you look at the tip through the mesh you can see they have difference sizes) as well as the tuning, the bass comes quite far up into the frequency response which can make the drums feel fleshed out.

It's a pleasure to join this thread with the VE10. This is my very first IEM from Vision Ears, and I bought it as a New Year gift for myself. So far, it works really well with the Baroque tips and the EA Eros cable.

The difference with cable rolling is remarkable. Even though I really like the color matching of the VE10 with the stock cable, I have to admit the Eros significantly improves the sound quality. The soundstage is wider, the bass is tighter, and the separation is excellent.

Congratulations! I’m also a very happy VE10 owner which gets pretty much daily use, adore the tuning. Interestingly I haven’t felt the need to cable roll but I do have the Eros so will give it a try.
