Thank you for the information. From my research on this thread and some reviews, I’ve heard nothing but positive feedback about Ode to Laura. Perhaps I should save up for that cable. The main issue with my current setup (Root + VE10) is that the vocals are pushed forward, which affects their clarity and detail. Additionally, the separation is not as good as I had hoped.
The Ode to Laura makes VE10 extremely addictive, it does something magical to the bass while making the treble quite airy. I wouldn’t say it’s as technical with the separation as the hybrid+ though which leans ever so slightly more analytical and focuses on dynamics. It really depends what you’re looking to get more of with the pairing.

Fusion 1 is a great cable that is working fine with other IEM's as well, paired with the Phönix I felt all the positive aspects that other already said in the past - while midbass boost maybe become slightly too much.

Did'nt the VE10 have already more midbass then the Phönix, so perhaps not the best option unless you want even more midbass with the VE10.
Interesting, I have never tried the Phönix before but can agree with you on the midbass of the VE10, which was known for its characteristic.

The reason for my post is that I saw someone was selling Fusion 1 at a very good price, which made it tempting. That cable has a very eye-catching color and design, and it was at the top of my list as an upgrade from my Eros Ani.

Took the EXT II to CanJam last Sunday. They held up very well against a lot of auditioning. For details and technicalities they are at the top of the pack, while still having a lovely midrange for both male and female vocals, as well as brass. I could not find anything that made me say, ok I want to sell the EXT II right now and try to get these. I did hear a lot of great IEM that I would love to have in my collection though. There is an embarrassment of riches out there in the IEM world.

I have become addicted to that ability to have a gorgeous overall timbre while still just being so good with details. That's the one thing I would always be like wow, when I'd put these back on. I do need to do a couple things to make the EXT II work perfectly. There are some times, on the not very often scale, where the treble can just begin to approach the point where you'd start to want to dial them back. They tease with that level rarely, but in order to keep it to never, you need to tip roll. I'm using the AZLA Crystals. And with the iFi Go Blu I do use the bass boost just to give that bass a little more love and it's amazing. Also with the BTR17 or Qudelix 5k I do eq the bass frequencies up a bit. I am a bass lover so I need a lil oomph. So the search continues for an IEM that does all this but without EQ. My budget does not let me have multiple 3K IEM's at this point, and I don't tend to listen to many IEM's at once. I am looking to get the Legion if they come out with one with a plain face plate as a complementary pair.

I have like five IEM I want to audition next to these at some point though. CanJam is too short, but when I heard something that hit well right away, I gave them a bunch of A/B swaps. I would like some longer comparison times with those. But when you A/B, if you like the detail presentation of the EXT II within liking the overal sound signature, you are always going to notice it when swapping back to these.

Have you tried the original EXT? Everything you have described that you are looking for sounds like the OG… beautiful timbre of the EXT 2 but more bombastic bass , it digs slightly less into the sub bass but bigger mid bass and also presented different (bigger), also with upper mids / lower treble pulled back a little and more upper treble emphasis.

A few months in with my VE10s and I'm curious, does anyone use them with more bass-oriented music?

I absolutely love them with jazz, also with acoustic music and some rock, some ambient. But with other genres like techno or reggae or hip-hop I just find them too light in the bass, especially sub-bass. It's not a complaint as I have other IEMs to use for those genres, am just interested to know if anyone else is using them for this kind of music.

Also does anyone use something like an IEMatch with these? They are so sensitive and they hiss with most of my gear (silent D16 excluded). I got rid of my IEMatch a while ago as didn't have a use for it but am thinking of getting another if it's not going to mess with the sound in other ways.

Hi, I'm also a new VE10 owner. To answer your question, IMO, you could try out a few different cables. I’ve tried both the EA Eros and EA Root, but somehow, I'm still not quite satisfied with its bass. One member in this thread suggested pairing it with the Eletech Ode to Laura. That will be my next cable once I have some funds to spend.

Also, here is a song I used to test bass

I'd love an Ode to Laura but I doubt it would transform the entire sound signature of the IEM. Even with EQ there's not much to be done at the 20-40hz range, I just don't think they're tuned that way. As I said it's not a complaint as I bought these specifically for the midrange, am just curious really if I'm hearing something very differently to other users.

Cute song though 😊

How do your VE10s respond to something like this?

I heard a decent rumble but felt like it lacked impact instead of tightening the bass. The cable gave the VE10 a fuller and warmer bass, if that makes sense to you.
Yes fine so fills out the mid-bass then. I can believe that

Edit: I've been going buckwild with the VE10s this week. My VE10 playlists are tailored to play to their strengths and though it has taken a while to adapt to them I am now truly in love. Beautiful IEMs, I know now that I'll be keeping them for a long time.

got chances to demo the Ext Mkii (both the gold, black and the normal purple vers) many times and found it good but not so good compelling me to pay for the hefty price tag.

during my usual casual browsing of local trading forum, i found a listing of a "99% new condition" original Ext with full package, at a substantial discount. chatted with the seller for a while and found out we've traded before which built up my confidence quite a lot that this is a authentic user to user trading at a good price.

swiftly traded and bought this set back hope after work tonite. i don't quite recall how the original Ext sounds. but with just a few minutes of listening i could quickly connecting this to the "airy" comments of many local users - much more so comparing with aura, VE10, phonix, erlkönig, VE8 and EVE20 i've got. the quad EST driver seems tuned to give significant more treble energy than the other VE using BA drivers (and also against most other iems using EST drivers). but i could also understood why some users described the tuning a bit "tiring" to listen for a long session with the elevated bass and also a lot of treble energy. it's a very nice compliment to the other VEs i've got since the Ext sounds distinctively different.

the fit is excellent with very good seal with the supplied spinfit tips. excellent noise isolation and also top notch construction quality. the solid case and the faceplate both were made to very high quality standard. another pair of masterpiece from VE no doubt, even after almost 4 years of debut.
