Congrats, I believe it's worth waiting. And I find myself switch to X1 more and more often.

I am having a hard time having and objective opinion on the VE6. They both sound really nice, but with demos the fit and isolation are just bad, so it is hard to compete with my customs. Any how the X2 is quite neutral but I do find that out of the 901, it sounds a little congested. It is better out of the Hugo, but I am not seduced by it. The ZX1 sounds bigger to my ears...more power, more width and depth, more air, deeper bass. It sounds quite exciting, but so far I still prefer my NT6 or SE5. So all in all really good but no game changer...but maybe the custom version would do it for me. And maybe when you have NT6, SE5 and 1plus2 you we hard to please.

It's a pity that you have a fitting problem. As I recall, you also had the same issue earlier with the VE2/3/4 demo.

It's indeed hard to get a fair assessment while the seal is not tight or you even have to hold the ear pieces just to barely wear them.

Personally, I find a quite big difference between the x1 demo and cm version, as I also have a fitting problem on the demo..

If I can quantify the difference between the demo and the final product, I would say 10-15% for VE4 and its demo. However, for VE6, I would say 20-25% for X1, and 10-15% for X2. In other words, I concur that indeed there is a substantial difference between the X1 and the demo.

I myself now rely on the sound performance of my HD800 and Balancing Act (with WE300B replica and Mullard ECC35, PX4 and Sylvania 6SN7W metal base) as a reference while auditioning CIEM demos. The HD800 combo demonstrate a very transparent and neutral sound. For sure the HD800 and CIEMs are different species. And so far no demos or final product of CIEMs (including VE6 XC) outperform my HD800 setup in terms of transparency soundstage scale, or detail reproduction. Yet, I can say that the custom version of VE6 has come a long way and make it a serious competitor to HD 800 setup in terms of delivering musical enjoyment (although the CIEMs present the music in a slightly different way than the full size dynamic headphones).

In the near future I hope to have a chance to acquire or at least audition 1 plus 2, NT6, or SE-5way to as well spoil my ears!

Noble K10 might also be an option for you to consider, I suppose:

I do not have a fitting problem...the seal is good. It is just that I do not get as much pleasure from an uncomfortable universal and a custom. The custom makes the sound more visceral as there is a larger area of contact and thus more bone conduction. The VE6 sounds very good. It is just that having the SE5 and NT6 I need to fall in love to buy anything else and it is not the case.

What is your opinion on the X1 vs X2 settings? If this were the only IEM available and you had to choose X1 or X2 which one would you get?
Hum tough question...a matter taste. I would say maybe X2 as it is the most neutral so if you only have one it is best if it is neutral. On the other hand I think with average source X1 will be easier on the ears. And it is more exciting. So far I still prefer NT6 or SE5 over X2 for close to neutral sig, but it could be different if I had the real custom.

Lieberstanley, I believe you are from taiwan right?
Have you ever had a chance to do a comparison between ve6 to rhines stage 5 or fitear mh335?
I'll be going back to taiwan for holiday next month, what are some places that will provide the among ciem for demo? Thank you
