USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best

I went through an exercise of identifying a decent-sounding & cheap USB dongle as I was replacing my LG G6 with Pixel 3 phone. Bought a couple non-brand ones from China. They all look exactly the same, and most of them had noise floor like a waterfall in the background. I finally settled on a model which claimed to use Realtek's ALC4040 chip (with pictured teardown). Couldn't hear the noise floor, forward-sounding, plays loud and tested 24bit/192khz. Was a good sonic replacement/upgrade of the G6's 3.5mm output on the Pixel. You can give ALC4040 dongles a try, it only cost a few dollars.
Hey, I recently got a pixel 3, I'm using the included usb c dongle and it has a very bad noise floor and hiss alot.
I'm wondering if your pixel 3 came with the dongle and whether you have the same issue.
Cause I'm worried that my usb c dac dongle might be a counterfeit.

Wait, you think that Google put a fake dongle in your Pixel box and shipped it to you?

The pixel's dongle is still in the box. Will give it a try later today and edit the result here.

EDIT:
No hiss that I can hear. Win10 control panel reports it maxes out at 24bit/48khz. Sound-wise (based on Tidal mqa tunes), imho, slightly thinner, harsher & lower volume than ALC4040 dongle(24/192) that I use. Still reasonable SQ if you're not too fussy. Probably a valid warranty replacement case to get one with quieter noise floor.

That is really odd, my DC01 works without problems on my OP7TPro with Android 10, also using UAPP. Does your DC02 work correctly on a computer?

Try disabling automatic battery management?
