Agree on Onkyo Hifi player on 3 key points:
1. SQ
2. Upsampling/Converting (what other's don't have) to DSD128 (256?)
3. Ease of use

Not using it because:
1. No network access, local files only.
2. No online streaming or built in UPNP option
3. Limited to DSD 128 (256?).
4. No MQA support.

I tried playing DSD 512 on UAPP in native DSD mode and it said error in playback and would not play the file. If I changed out of native DSD to DSD over PCM it did play. 128 and 256 played fine in native, just not 512. In my set-ups I have to use either JRiver or Audirvana on desktop PCs to play 512 DSD. My only DSD 512 DAC is my NX4DSD.

Somebody posted that they turned off all of the bit perfect settings in UAPP settings and got their DAC to play 512 in native but I wasn't able to. You could try that. Here's the link to that posting:

Hello..

I have been using UAPP in both the iBasso DX320EX and the Hiby RS8. Tried playing DSD512 files in both of them using UAPP.

With the DX320EX, DSD512 files could be played NATIVELY. With the RS8, DSD512 files are being downsampled to PCM 352.8KHz. Tried all the settings in UAPP, checking and unchecking the bit perfect mode, etc. Still, DSD512 files are not played natively but downsampled to PCM 352.8KHz.

Is there an option in the UAPP settings that I may have missed in order for it to pay DSD512 files natively in the RS8?

Thank you

I don't have my UAPP accessible to check the exact setting but I believe DSD playback settings are configurable in UAPP, and with my HibyRS6 it plays DSD natively and displays it as such.

Hello,

I have an RS8. and DSD512 files are being downsampled to PCM 352.8KHz.

Could you please share the UAPP settings of your RS6 which made possible the native playback of DSD512 files?

Thank you.

Yes, I can do so later today. caveat is I a need to verify my prior response was applicable to DSD512. Will do and report back.

My apologies...the highest res. DSD in my collection is 256 so clearly my prior comments did not apply to DSD512. In addition, the product page specifications for RS6 state: "The two crystal oscillators for the 44.1xkHz and 48xkHz families are clocked at 45.158MHz and 49.152MHz respectively with subatomic precision down to -140dBc/Hz @1kHz, DSD256 enabling 768kHz and DSD256 decoding at down to 0.003% / -115dB THD"

I should have read your question more thoroughly. Hope you find a solution. :v:

thank you for replying.

still trying to find one. actually, i have copied the UAPP settings on the DX320 to the UAPP settings of the RS8 so to make them as similar as possible.

UAPP in the DX320 played DSD512 natively. but RS8 could not, still downsampling the DSD512 files to PCM 352.8KHz. :triportsad:

Perhaps a silly question as not your quest, but does DSD512 play correctly in the HiBy Music app.?

I think TIDAL should made the changes in its API to allow third party apps to access its HighRes (MAX) catalogue.
They will at some point but so far have not.

The only things currently working with Max are a direct connection to the iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS desktop apps. Neither their own Connect feature, nor Chromecast is yet compatible, and the API has not been updated.

I am getting a strange issue where uapp is showing duplicates of every track in my library despite only one copy being on my microSD card on my sony DAP

edit: rescanned my library and it fixed the issue. Strange.

I am having this issue again. Pretty much whenever I open up uapp on my WM1AM2 all the tracks are listed twice. Both iterations play without issue. Rebuilding the library returns it to just one track but then if i close the app and come back later its double listed again.

Any thoughts what is going on here?
