Unbelievable... Koss KSC-35
Mar 9, 2011 at 12:09 AM Post #46 of 54
I miss my ksc-35.  I like my 75's but the 35's were even better.  But they both have better tone than a lot of much more expensive headphones.  Unfortunately the drivers in the 35's seemed a bit fragile, as 2 pairs that i had developed a rattle and so did my friend's pair and that hasn't happened to my old beatup 75 nor my friend's replacement 75.  So the titanium drivers or the way they are mounted or something must be more durable.

Actually... the Portapro and Sportapro both use the exact same drivers as the 35, but the porta has blue drivers which is ugly, sporta is black just like the original 35, and its cheap.

Which is why I wanna get Sportapros for the drivers and stick the KSC35 drivers from the Sportapros in the UR40 enclosure so I can see how a full-sized circum-aural version of my Portapros sounds compared to the stock Portapros. :D

No to cause some sort of uproar, but as of right now the KSC35s are available on koss.com for $45. With code NEW25 they come down to $34 with free priority shipping.

I "still" use mine from time to time, and I am always "shocked" how good they sound, specially the nice, strong bass

Strange as it might sound, I ended up preferring my KSC75s over the 35s. The 75s have worse bass control, but much smoother upper mids / treble region. There are two distinctive "spikes" in KSC35's frequency response around there that kind of ruins the presentation for me.

Has anyone tried to use their warranty to replace their old KSC35s with the current revision? Mine has one of the clips broke, the wires are long gone and the earpads are gone. Is this grounds for warranty replacement?

How'd that go for you? Sounds interesting!
