Just received the VX limited edition. They claimed that the only difference is color. But I found its more smooth in highs and less spiking than the original VX. The VX limited edition now has smooth vocal as CA16 with better highs and wider soundstage

That's interesting. Could be unit variation. But is the shell made of a different material than the original VX? Perhaps that can cause some resonance difference and affect tuning too.

I don't own a original VX, just tried a shop's demo unit for half hour, I can hear some spiking for the original VX, but not the limited edition It's quite strange that they haven't change the tuning. Anyway, there is always mystery in chi-fi

Ok, so I found a photo of a regular VX, and it says something different. So it looks like the special edition really is different as far as tuning.

Here’s what the regular one says:

I have the original VX and it has gradually improved over time. I am using it with a Senlee hybrid cable and Spiral Dots, via line out on my Xduoo X20, amplified by a Fiio A5 and they do sound extremely clear and detailed with the original harshness much reduced.
