Have managed to install Eqalizer APO and the Peace GUI on the work PC and get the presets working.
Running Tidal on the PC, then via micro-USB to the CHORD Mojo.
I tested the QDC 4SS, the Sony EX1000 and for comparison the modded JVC FD02 (understanding that the filter preset is for the unmodded FD02...)
One thing I perceive is that the soundstage kind of collapses when I switch on the EQ, most clearly with the QDC 4SS, but also with the EX1000.
The sound gets one dimensional and center focused.
Subjectively I like the filter with the 4SS, it nicely cleans up the sound and increases clarity. Works really well! Slightly hot in the treble, but still like it.
(I also played with the IER-M9 preset and the 4SS and liked it too, a nice cleaning up of the mid bass)
On the EX1000 I liked the preset with Hans Zimmer but with acoustic music I found the treble too sizzly.
Somehow this EQ-ing seems to work well with the 4SS BA IEM, but the compensation of the treble spikes on the EX1000 doesn't work that well IMO.
I also once again learned to appreciate the tuning and SQ of the modded JVC FD02.
No real conclusions, but an interesting experiment.
I consider it more a tool for experimenting with frequency reponses rather than a permanent fix for changing the sound signature of an IEM, but as such a tool it is really valuable!
Big thumbs up!!
