Also, side note on the target curve EQ filter project. I got access to crinacle's database and came up with EQ settings for 30+ earphones. These EQ settings are all done on a prediction basis and currently I am having some friends with their IEMs run through these settings to hear if they sound fine. I will release the EQ settings in a few days and maybe get the number up to 50+ models.

Once the virus situation is over then I can hear and measure the earphones myself with the EQ settings to verify the target.

I'm quite stoked to try the B2. Initially was going to try them when they reached singapore but corona hit hard and I wasn't able to. Moondrop is one of the most consistent brands out there.

From what I remember, I described the V6 as brittle sounding. It's odd since on FR it appears similar to Gemini and 8SL. I have to refresh myself on the rest of the qdc lineup outside of their 8 and 10 BAs.

Yeah, its good especially for the price just quite uncomfortable to wear. But not sure if you would like it as i think you like something warmer and smoother and the b2 is kind of bright.

Looking forward to it. Always saw good reviews for the higher end qdc's but they are over my budget...would like to try them one day though...

There are very few reviews for the mid tier ones though...

Toranku Target EQ Filters Master List

Link to the Google Drive (organised by earphone model)

Please Read:
Please refer to this post to see what my target is about and how it looks like. In the google drive folders you will find an image file and a .txt file. The image file shows the PREDICTED EQ result compared against my target. I can only assure that the EQ filters will match the earphones to my target roughly in the 40hz-5khz region with its prediction algorithm. Why I cannot guarantee that the EQ filters match my target to 10khz is that treble measurement is manipulated with insertion depth of the earphones in the couplers. A deeper fit on the coupler typically decreases treble energy from 3-10khz and a shallower fit increases treble energy. The same applies to our ears - a deeper fit has a tendency to reduce treble energy.

My raw measurement data is supplied by @crinacle 's graph database & he typically targets around 8khz resonance which I base off. That is the reason why it is impossible to match my target's treble from 5-10khz since every individual has their own resonance point that also varies with how deep he/she insert their earphones. That said, you will likely still hear a big difference in the bass and midrange as most earphones vary a lot away from my target.

I do not mess with the resonance peak and 10khz-20khz as much as possible with my EQ filters. Some predicted measurements may have spikes from 9khz-11khz which you might want to decrease yourself. Lastly, I base my EQ filters off crinacle's measurement and your own set of earphones can vary in measurement from what crinacle has measured.

I have not tested nor measured these EQ filters. They are predictions though measurements from my friend's couplers support that the EQ filters are generally accurate.

Please let me know if you have any specific earphones you want an EQ filter made to try the target curve. I will also gradually add in more EQ filters.

How To Use:
You will require a Parametric EQ program such as Equaliser APO (or its PEACE GUI) on your phone or PC. The .txt files can be imported into PEACE GUI easily which I have designed for.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO SET PREAMP SETTING TO THE MAXIMUM POSITIVE VALUE OF THE EQ'S GAIN. For example, if the EQ has a +10dB on a band, make sure to apply -10dB at the preamp setting of EQAPO/PEACE. This will ensure that the audio will not clip at all. Also ensure that the filters are all PEAK (PK) filters.

My EQ filters are designed with automatic algorithm + manual adjustment. I try to use low Q factors as much as possible with maximum gain under +10dB.

@toranku - Just tried your compensation curve for Fibae7. I have a custom IEM, so I'm not sure if that aligns with crin's measurement unit or not. Regardless, the results are very good. Only a small carving out at 7khz, which is where I know a resonance exists, was required by me as an additional filter.

It took only a few minutes to acclimate to it, and once I did, there was very nice perceived linearity - like my near-field monitors and sub in a well treated studio with bass traps. Perhaps the sub-bass was a bit too rumbly for my liking, but otherwise, I was able to hear better separation between bass guitars and kick drums. Because the upper mids are attenuated quite a bit with this curve, the remaining octaves higher up, gained in relative energy. Here's the small bit of resolution that was missing from the stock tuning of the Fibae7. It's not their tech or components, but that purposefully gentle treble tuning. Once that is corrected - it plays details previously unheard.

Well done sir - this is an excellent tool set. Thank you!

edit: I should be able to try this with Moondrop Starfield to see how repeatable the outcome is. How close can I get my two IEMs to sound, in other words.

Thank you for the feedback. Piotr once told me his UIEMs are tuned a little differently in attempt to try to match the CIEM sound. However the filters should still change the bass response totally (eliminating a lot of warmth) and you'll hear a big change compared to stock.

If crinacle ever gets to measure a CIEM F7, I can create an EQ filter that is more accurate to the uppermids/treble.

Please let me know how the SF sounds with the EQ too!

I didn't find any free or cheap parametric EQ for Mac OS Mojave, so I just implemented a rough approximation of the QDC 4SS parameters on my HiBy R3 which feeds the Chord Mojo... NICE!
Now the question remains, what to use on MAC or iOS+Tidal to implement the PEQ settings?
Apologies - I have avoided EQ so far, but this looks promising.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:Nice job, Toranku!!

Also, added Moondrop S8 into the EQ master list. This one slipped my mind and the raws are from another friend of mine (measurements should still be close to crinacle).

Google Drive Link.

You will need Menubus (to route the plugins to the correct drivers) and then use Fabfilter for the PEQ. Fab does seem like a paid programme though...

He also mentioned "AULab" so you could look into that. Seems free.

With ios phones its a lost cause :frowning2:
