Thunderpants (modified Fostex T50RP) smeggy's version with bassports wouldn't have to stand in shame at all next to those gears while still deliver more and very high quality bass. Goes for around $500 I think. Obviously won't quite be on the same level as those open headphones but for closed they are among the best.

Skullcandy's Mix Master Mikes should be out soon. My brief listen at CES was encouraging.

LCD-2 would be an awesome hip-hop can, me thinks.

Tyll, what are Mix Master Mikes?

They're the new can from Skullcandy.  They've had a bit of trouble in manufacturing it, and it's been delayed but should be out sometime in the next 3 months or so, I'd guess.
