I have to pack and go and catch my flight back home, but I'll post pictures and impressions tomorrow once I can sort out everything from my camera.

The FitEar fitear was a hit for a lot of people., I personally liked the AYA more, by comparison to the MH335DW-SR the mid bass of the AYA was milder.

Sadly didnt make it today and booked up tomorrow. Have fun everyone!

Tokyo HFers, lets try to meet up on a non-event weekend?

Me too could not make it. Family first.

But let's plan a non-event some time soon. It's been a while.

Was just thinking about the Re-leaf demonstration at the show. I was very impressed, the exhibitors said the engineer was out for lunch when I was there, and they weren't able to explain all of the details of what goes into their "current drive" technology (as opposed to "voltage drive"). Anyways, whatever it is, it works wonderfully. I don't think I've ever heard cleaner more crystal clear separation with detail all the way across the amplitude spectrum. Even subtle sounds were resolved and not distorted. It makes me more curious to know what they've done.

They encouraged me to compare with the Goldmund exhibit, which I happily did...indeed, Re-leaf was better across the board (although I think the Goldmund amp was not in the same price point...I haven't checked). Actually, listening to some opera pieces with the Goldmund set up, I noticed some occasional distortion on top of female vocals...of course, this could be a limitation of the recording (the source was a Goldmund CD player), and not the system, I would have to listen to exactly the same source on both systems to give a more fair accounting. The Goldmund was a bit warmer sounding, but the re-leaf was just ultra-clean and I could see why it justifies a $16,000 price tag.

The re-leaf folks said they were a rogue offshoot from Sony, who recently decided to head out on their own and forge a new direction in Hi-Fi. Basically, a very young start-up. Their team includes both a top Sony engineer and a Sony marketing specialist, so they seem to have the right team in place. I wish them the best of luck!

I spent some time with the Reference 1 and new uber cable and the combination was excellent. Probably my only minor complaint was that the upper bass or lower mids could be a couple of dB too strong on some tracks. The treble was lovely though, sufficiently prominent without bringing out harshness and plenty of impact in the bass too.

Did you get a chance to try the Just Ears?

I tried the "Listening" version of the Just ear: Open, clear, no harshness. FR was a bit weird, but I'm going to put that down to it being the universal version of a custom. They are pretty big too because of the dynamic driver.

I bought the FitEar FitEar. Listening with it now. I couldn't get enough bass so I had to insert it a bit deeper. It seems to be a better Parterre though I'd have to compare directly. Instruments have bite and it is quite bright.

I talked with Suyama-san too. I know a lot of people really want to buy the 334 and other universals, but he can't make them fast enough. The people with the knowledge and skill required to work for him don't just grow on trees unfortunately and he isn't one to compromise on quality.

Shape wise FitEar fitear is more ergonomic, luck you! Who knows when the rest of the world might get a chance to try let alone buy it.

Is it priced cheaper than Parterre?

Thank you for your input.
