what is the meaning of a "burn-in"? It probably will not be the headphone adapting to your ears in a period of time but you're ears adapting and getting used to the sound of the headphone...probably

Burn-in, in regard to the PROline 750, is the period of time that the headphone is run continuously at normal listening levels, whereby the stiff titanium-plated drivers get a good physical workout, allowing them to become supple enough to perform at their absolute best. This take between 150 and 200 hours, minimum!

So there's always a volume knob on an amp?

Yes, just think of it as a miniature stereo power amplifier. You control the amplification, hence the volume with the knob only, since the iPod's volume control only works with the signal of the internal amplifier.
So even if you use your remote you cannot change your listening volume with it, since the amp uses the line out from the dock connector.

What actually happens with burn-in no one knows for sure. The common concensus seems to be, that the diaphragm of the driver is loosening up with continous use.

The only way to really evaluate if burn-in is real, is to buy two identical headphones. Then let one burn in, and the other in it's packing.
And if they really sound different to you then you know it^^.

Best quote ever!

This is far from being the best quote ever, this is only shows a little Ultrasone ignorance regarding that they indeed are a different headphone with a different sound, and what is even more complicated, a complete natural presentation that we are not used to. So IMO you can't judge the Ultrasone sound with the same rule you use for the rest of the headphones, as simply they are different...This member simply will never understand the magic behind the Ultrasone headphones, or if he is trying to do it, he had chosen the hardest and longest way to do it...Of course his choice...

As I recall, pageman likes his Ultrasones, he was merely objecting to the concept of not listening to his other cans during the familiarization period.

Yes but you have to agree with me that he had chosen the hardest way...

That sounds very plausible indeed, just as Dex mentioned. Only a quite expensive way of checking

but indeed the most sufficient way of truly finding out the real difference.
Also very logical that stuff is going to be 'stretched' when frequently being used and it changes the the way they are sounding.
