How do they sound????
You heard it here first folks: $2,500 is now mid-fi. RIP wallets everywhere!I think a few of us have posted impressions about the Alter Ego. It's somewhere in the thread, the bottomline is it's a very good Mid-Fi IEM. Personally i'd take it over Traillii or Traillii Ti.
The table is somewhat over emphasised I can say. According to WHO, the SPL in auditory regular human conversation is 60dB and 70 dB is borderline loud which depicts Washing Machine, Classroom Chatter or city traffic. Harmful threshold starting at 80dB. I maintain this SPL along with ear training and some physical exercise to lower the reduction of hearing loss. Anyway over the age we all gonna lose something. Sorry for the late reply. From eye-balling the table in @Tanalasta's link I don't consider that a low music level to be honest. Unless the table is wrong.
I would agree but it's just at the range where it starts to hurt your eardrum. But I know almost all audiophiles in my knowledge who listen to higher than this SPL.80dB is definitely not low volume
My wife: but didn't you Damz Hurst it twice already? Also I'm not getting you a custom VientoHoney, it's just an entry level earphone called Trailli, there are a few tiers above it so relax!
In couple more years $2,500 will become budget-fi. RIP passive/pension income. LolYou heard it here first folks: $2,500 is now mid-fi. RIP wallets everywhere!
Technically, $8,500/2 = $4,250 is right in the middle . So $2,500 is budget. You heard it here first folks: $2,500 is now mid-fi. RIP wallets everywhere!
It's just a quartile. Budget fi, mid fi, hi fi and summit fi. Take the highest priced IEM, divide it by 4 and create 4 levels of price between $0 and $hi water mark.In couple more years $2,500 will become budget-fi. RIP passive/pension income. Lol
Thankfully in audio price/performance isn't linear, and diminishing returns hit hard at or around the $1500-$2000 mark. Anything above that is high-end in my book. It's just a quartile. If that's true I'll happily stay budget-fi forever!Technically, $8,500/2 = $4,250 is right in the middle . So $2,500 is budget.
Just don't tell the guys on the Discovery threadIf that's true I'll happily stay budget-fi forever!
True, the labels are arbitrarily linear. SQ is logarithmic where the greatest value of price to quality is at the knee of the curve probably around $2500.Thankfully in audio price/performance isn't linear, and diminishing returns hit hard at or around the $1500-$2000 mark.
