Please let me know what they respond with. I would love to do the same for mine.

I just asked Andrew @ MT what the cost would be to re-terminate my horus octa to conx.
Well, EA sold me the ConX with the adapter which I sent to PW Audio with my cable for retermination.
I even asked to EA to send the kit to PW directly, which they agreed, but they mistakenly ended up by sending me the kit at home.

I had the chance today to try out the legendary Storm, thanks to @antdroid who was in Munich tonight and was so kind to let me listen to his set!

After some issues to find a good seal (Storm has a larger nozzle, maybe even slightly larger than Anni but not on EXT level) I was able have a good seal with my W1s, the same I use with the Annihilator. When I finally had the right seal after some fiddling, the IEMs were really comfortable for me. I have large ears but small ear canals.

What can I say, I was mostly impressed by how good people in this thread described the Storm. I had an imagination after reading many impressions here and most of these impressions matched reality for me! The Storm is a great reference set, it does have great BA bass, is holographic. And yes, it did everything right with the tracks from several genres of music I was listening to with it (Rock, Electronic, Metal, Acoustic, Vocal etc.).

I was listening through my SP3000 and I know this is not considered the ideal DAP for the Storm but I think it is enough to get a good feeling for this IEM. It was the most demanding set, I've listend to, so far. Not the perfect reference points, but still - my volume level for normal listening on the SP3k - Mentor:42, Annihilator: 75, GM: 77, Storm: 95! (out of 150).

What impressed me most was the perfect and beautiful craftsmanship. The launch edition is so beautiful, I hope the regular version can keep up here.

Would I buy it? Not sure, to be honest. It is the absolut best reference set I've ever heard but I think I was missing the "wow-factor" a little. But I do think everybody who is looking for a perfect reference set will have a hard time to find anything better. But that was already known, of course.

Thanks again @antdroid, also for the great conversation. Save travels and great meetings to you!!
Thank you for your impressions! Can you tell me more about the Annihilator vs the Storm for sound quality?

I'd like to pose a question for Watercooler posters please!

A genie offers you 3 TOTL IEMs... what rationale do you base your decision on?

Possible examples:
  • You pick one IEM from each your three favourite brands
  • You choose one bass, midrange & treble specialist
  • You select one to match each of your three favourite colours
  • You choose IEMs best suiting your three favourite music genres
  • You pick the 3 most expensive IEMs you can think of
  • You choose by driver configuration, say one all-BA, one DD, one hybrid
  • You take the three most popular with your friends or reviewers

It doesn't help that the cost of a cable can be as much as the IEM itself sometimes. It's hard to believe that it can make a big enough difference to justify the cost.... or maybe it doesn't.

Yeah that's a different issue altogether, but far be it from me to tell someone how much to spend (or not) on that last few % of fine tuning something how they like. I've kind of drawn a hard line in the sand for myself at about $1k for a cable upgrade, regardless of the IEM. That amount can go quite far generally, especially on the used market. I'm a huge fan of Con-X personally...I love the versatility and that I can use the same cable with MMCX, Pentaconn and 2-pin IEMs.

Along came the Camelot

I've been continuing with the WM1AM2 + Iliad + Camelot combo and this is very difficult to put down. The Camelot that was pretty good has now become difficult to take off. The synergy is that good.

Over the past 5-6 years, 64audio A18t has been my #1 for my preferences and not many came close to dislodging it or sharing the #1 spot. Camelot might well do that and coincidentally they're almost in the similar price bracket.

This one has been on my short list for some time but a demo has been elusive. I've heard some interesting things about their flagship Tesseract, but this one seems more up my personal alley.

Would depend on my current collection

If empty handed I would choose

1.An all rounder with best comfort (X4)
2.Warm Neutral reference set (Canpur 622b, Traillii, Amber Pearl )
3. Bass dominate fun set or V shape set (Xe6, Duality, Fei Wan, etc)

I got some mail today…some EA awesomeness for our tour program.

I unironically hate that the purple one is the more budget sounding one. Purple's my favorite color and I really want a solid IEM cable in that color scheme that's super premium. Tyrion was one option (still regret missing the classifieds listing a while back) but I have yet to see anything else premium in purple apart from a multitude of cheap Aliexpress listings.

Let’s see:
  • STORM (replacing my U12t)
  • Annihilator 2023 (replacing my Gaea)
  • XE6 (odd one to replace my Andro)

Khopesh, RN6, Trifecta. You're pretty much describing my setup.
Who is this genie, and will he help pay my credit card bills?

Conx should be the standard. Eletech doing versa is a step in the right direction. My take is, pairing nice iems with cheap cabling is like building a gaming rig and getting a cheap power supply. It'll probably be fine, until it isn't. That said, stock cables aren't always bad. Personally I didn't hate the cable that came with the legend evos, and radon is an example yet again of Fir listening to their customers and making stock cabling premium instead of cheap.

The most expensive one x3 so I can flip it and get whatever I want.

Musical/warm (Creator), Bass/bright(er) (Raven), Neutral (probably Storm).

Same list with a swap of XE6 for Radon but honestly all have compelling factors and heck the genie is paying for it

Water Cooler can I get some help? Have a Cayin N30BLE that does not want to set up properly. I only get as far as selecting English and timezone. I go to the next and it states it is "setting up the ultimate experience" and yet just stays there. The DAP is charged. If anyone else has any other suggestions please let me know. Thank you.

One that makes acoustic bass more clear and forward.

One that makes vocals sweater and more lyrical, makes an Irish singer sound more Irish.

One that does not get in the way of the music by pushing any frequency range ahead of others.

I just finalized this question for myself this past weekend.

1) Fei Wan (top end dominant)
2) Trifecta (bottom end dominant)
3) Perpetua (Flat-ish & balanced with a midrange focus)

3 different approaches, all have great bass and all sound great with everything I listen to.

I wouldn't say it's more budget-- try before you judge. Personally I'll take a subtle ding in SQ (for that's all it is, if that) for great aesthetics.

I can tolerate the stock cables on most of the IEMs that have come across my path. Really, it's just one more excuse for a dopamine hit and an avenue for personalization.

One for bass, one for vocals, one that does it all good enough

Don’t know the TOTL’s well yet so… CanJam SoCal will tell the tale.
