Do you prefer natural or boosted contrast in this photo?
What? Why are you bringing this up all of a sudden? :D This is a teaser photo EE posted of the Evo. It was super dark, and the faceplate wasn’t very visible, so I upped the exposure by a ton in Photoshop, so I could see what it said.

Kiats apart, it doesn't look there are many Softears Tremolo custom DD around?
They look really interesting and they are reasonably priced.

The Tremolo is one of my must-tries at CanJam SG. ‘Can’t wait to hear what they’ve done with a single-DD CIEM.

This is actually in my rotation for daily use (took the same colour as the picture) - to me, it's a piece that focus on being slightly warm, musical with just enough detail and wide/deep enough soundstage (but won't wow you in those factors). It is an easy listen for me, and if you enjoy how Softears tend to tune their midrange, this will be a nice first step into their dynamic driver line.

Alternatively, you can go Twilight as well, which benefits from being a universal format (or a detriment, depending on your use case), but i found it a touch too warm from where I like it. However, I started thinking it was too warm only after comparing to Tremolo.

Yeah, it looks intereting, I have ordered mine about 1.5 months back, Softears still working on it.
Surprised yours took quite a bit longer than mine (3-4 weeks). Either I was lucky enough to get a shorter wait as I was one of the first few to make an order, or you might want to ask and check on the progress.

Did you, by any chance, try out the Effect x Bloom Perseus at CanJam NYC? I found to be particularly intoxicating for soundtracks
You mean Eletech? I saw that on the Bloom Audio website.

And I’ll be doing some a/b/c comparing today since I have the tour kit on me. I admire Mentor for its imaging capabilities

So. I've been watching this guy on youtube, named Crinicle.. He seems to like craping all over kilo-buck IEM's. Sure only one man's opinion, but
he has a large subscription count. Same with Bad guy, Good review. I do laugh like hell watching them, very entertaining. I'd be skeptical on buying any
IEM over $1k, seem the diminishing curve is steep beyond this price point. Only problem with BGGR is, I think he wears a GoPro on his head while reviewing,
and I need to take Dramamine before watching him, or I can get sea sick.

Switching gears from the Custom Art Fibae 5 over to the FatFreq Maestro SE this morning.

First things first I think my biggest takeaway from the last two weeks (beginning with CanJam) is that the Luxury & Precision LP6 may be the single greatest audio product I've ever experienced...full stop. I've auditioned about a dozen IEMs through it right now and I'll be damned if every session doesn't leave me a little more enfatuated with the seductive, delicate yet ballsy, transparent yet full bodied, highly technical yet tonally perfect sound that comes out of this little gold brick. This morning I took @audionewbi's advice and connected the 1/4" inch adapter and have been using it, along with a 3.5 cable, all morning. Snapshot impressions are that the sound does indeed seem to be a little less aggressive, a little more effortless...more time with some more IEMs will be needed to say for sure but I like what I hear so far. Using the 1/4" connector if nothing else is a decent way to manage the steep power curve of the LP6. I will say that Maestro SE's stock cable...with it's rather elongated adapter system becomes a little unwieldy in this situation, as can be seen in the photo.

The Maestro SE is a fantastic IEM. Coming from the Fibae 5- which was more even-keeled in its midrange focus and which had bass & treble more in a supporting role--. the Maestro SE has a much more prominent bass emphasis, with the lows skewed towards the sub-bass. Mid-bass is present but nowhere near prominent. On the Fibae 5 the sound is more full bodied on the whole within the mids and the vocal range was more level-- on the MSE the top half of the FR is more skewed a little towards the upper mids and highs-- female vocals are a lot more prominent, and male vocals are a touch recessed. I've been enjoying the MSE with a variety of music-- Led Zeppelin, PM Dawn, Matthew Herbert, CCR, Groove Armada, Mumford & Sons-- and it hasn't hit any real false notes for me, though my personal preferences are more along the lines of a little more meat in the mid-bass and forwardness in the lower mid region. The Maestro SE to me, FR wise, reminds me a good deal of the IER Z1R and as such I'm tempted to say that I could full well get used to the MSE as an all rounder however given my preferences and the other IEMs at my disposal it would likely fall into the category of specialist for those times where I may want more of a female vocal emphasis or a good dose of top end air and clarity to go along with the big bass. A solid rec from me overall-- even within the highly competitive price bracket it falls into. I would absolutely love to see a collab between FatFreq and Elysian. FatFreq bass combined with Elysian mids & highs...would be something.

I watched both once, haven't since and not worth commenting further, LOL.

I was once skeptical of buying an IEM over $1K, until I started auditioning IEMs, then DAPs and cables – searching for musicality reproduction that resonates me. Now own 5 over $1K and a couple less than $500 (SA6, Fan/Fan 2, Serial) with a self imposed cap of $4K. The curve may be diminishing beyond $1K, but I've always been a quality over quantity kinda guy.

Enjoying a lazy Saturday brunch, afterwards listening sesh with Xe6 + RS8.

Then don't. I'd raise the curve to $1600-1800. It's simple though, if you never introduce that audio quality to your brain, your brain wont know or care. Keep on enjoying the music.

Humans love to make up reasons why things that may be unattainable for the individual or cause hardship in some manner are also unnecessary and overkill when you can "get this (whatever iem with good tuning) for way less money".
"Don't be a fool" is the mantra. They will save you from the charlatans and idiots who enjoy wasting money for no reason. It serves many people well in being OK with what they have.

Never heard of them.
Funny, me either.

Lowest common denominator stuff, shock jock mixed with blatant shilling and character issues.

charlatans and idiots

Seeing this line reminded me of this quote from Swami Vivekananda:

"Of one hundred persons who take up the spiritual life, eighty turn out to be charlatans, fifteen insane, and only five, maybe, get a glimpse of the real truth. Therefore beware."

Spending some quality time with N7 and Turii Ti this evening, Turii still manages to amaze me several months later with what can be achieved from a single DD… the layering and imaging is really excellent coupled with fantastic timbre in a large stage. Definitely still my 🐐

Listening to this fantastic album…
