Just asking what are your first impressions of Som 🤣

I'm going to refrain from posting anything until its a little burned in. I'm not really a believer in DAPs needing a whole 200 hours to sound their best... but let's just say I was unimpressed with SP3000 out of the box and after 10 or so hours it sounded much better to me. So I will give RS8 the same treatment, and I am hoping it follows the same path that SP3000 did  .

Read: I am unimpressed as of now. :joy:

R2R definitely needs some time tho.

Just bought the IER Z1R , and while there are definitely some improvements compared to U12t, the dynamics isn't one of them :)

Basically… yeah. But I really enjoyed when I had the demo unit, which is why I bought it. So either my unit needs some burn in (likely), the sound was tweaked between the demo I had which was on a beta FW and the final release version (unlikely), or I just flat out prefer the SP3000 for my tastes (also likely).

We’ll see though, early days. I love the vocal presentation on the RS8 with the M. Mentor. :)

Turbo on, class AB, medium gain. I can’t hear a difference between amp classes but turbo mode reminds me of a slightly lesser version of P/P+ mode on N8ii, and I loved the P+ mode. Seems to increase dynamics and overall technicals.

Will the turbo mode going to be too heavy for the iem just wonder, cause mine iem are basically all BA ( MASON FS Traillii ve7 )

I find that its treble complements warmer players like the WM1ZM2. But that treble does tame down a fair bit with proper burn in. I suspect it's the Myrinx material. I'll try to make a comparison once my 03 and 04 arrive. Gonna take 300hrs of my life before the new chambers are ready though... Sigh...
So they do have a significant impact on treble? If they can shave off more than just a little bit then it becomes a killer at 2k.

Do you find it mutes Annihilator's treble excellence, or is this more of a personal preference thing? I'm on a quest to get the most bang for my buck with a sub $1K DAP.
Yeah if I could get that combo new for the same price I'd go for it. DX240 with no 4.4 stock is a deal breaker for me right now.
AMP8ii adds that 4.4 mm though. And from reading this combi is the DAP to beat below 1k.

I would be thinking you might get RS6 down to 1k during these days and a bit of talking.........

EDIT: I read DX240 can be bought without the regular amping card so that you wouldn't be buying 2.

DAP and amp card together are pushing $1200 otherwise it would be a no-brainer. If one came up used I'd be tempted. To buy something new I'm looking to pay on the order of ~$900 on sale for 20% off all in...which is why M6 Ultra is tempting.

Make sure fw is updated to the latest version. Also, similar to RS6, I prefer RS8 with VE Erlkonig preset in Darwin setting; that preset also enables NOS. But yeah, definitely give it a few days of burn in. So far I noticed the same with all discrete R2R dac daps, they need at least 2-3 days of burn in.

Depends on where you buy perhaps but at iBasso it's $950.

EDIT: In Singapore and Vietnam it's $850 so I'm sure you could find a great deal.

MSRP of the player is $950 and the card is $219...plus shipping and probably some duty it's easily over $1200.

Like I mentioned the card can be swapped so you won't pay extra. But yeah, if you can't get it near then that's an issue. Unless Black Friday is around the corner.

Oh snap I never though of that-- if they'd sell me a 240 with the Amp 8ii stock that would be seriously worth considering. I'll email them about it.
