High hopes. I tend to agree with your impressions. So that's a good sign.I think you will like the Viking Ragnar if you don't like the Sultan too.

Here we go again. YMMV, different tastes, etc. Agree to disagree.Your claim.

I heard stories of how crazy you need power (or current) to drive HE6 properly, and now this power hunger goes to IEMs as wellWell this is a bit crazy but IE600 needs a desktop rig with 300B tubes to shine. I don’t really like the sound when paired with N8ii, but with this desktop rig, it sounds ridiculously good! Sibilance is gone, highs are airy & natural. And of course the bass becomes so much better. But then again, what’s the point of having a pair of IEMs if they can only shine with a desktop setup. I’d still probably sell these off later.

Actually the power of the headphone output of the Manley preamp is not that high. If I’m not mistaken it’s only about 1,000 mW max.I heard stories of how crazy you need power (or current) to drive HE6 properly, and now this power hunger goes to IEMs as well

They seem to be phenomenal.Viking Ragnar is on my demo list for Saturday. Will post initial impressions. I did like Kublai Khan, but not enough to buy it. Didn't like Sultan at all.
I can't wait to read your review.
Nice to see the Dorado 2020 re-appearing in your signature! Safe Travels!
I never got rid of it but there was like a 3 month period where I didn’t listen to anything but Supermoon. Dorado 2020 has found it’s way into the rotation again and it’s as satisfying as ever.

I used IEMs on my desktop stack and I agree they sound a bit better. I don't have IE600 or N8ii, but I heard IE600 is not difficult to drive and N8ii is a powerful DAP so your experience is very surprising. Maybe it is a better ideal to get a C9 working with N8ii?Actually the power of the headphone output of the Manley preamp is not that high. If I’m not mistaken it’s only about 1,000 mW max.

Yes I also expected the IE600 to sound good out of N8ii. I had the IE900 before and while it’s excellent in many areas, the lower treble is still too bright for me as I’m very sensitive to sibilance. Some of the reviews refer the IE600 to be better at midrange and a bit warmer and thicker than IE900 and less bright so that’s what I expect from IE600. Perhaps the synergy is just not there with N8ii. I prefer the sound of IE900 out of N8ii.I used IEMs on my desktop stack and I agree they sound a bit better. And I don’t have any plans to add C9, as my main listening is done with a desktop rig and headphones. I’ve trimmed down my IEM collection quite considerably in the past two years. A DAP with 2-3 IEMs would be sufficient for me.

I wonder what’s your thoughts on the LAYLA? I think JH is great with very specific genres like Thundercat, but it left me cold and unimpressed on other tracks. This was years ago so I don’t remember the specificsThe last two JH Audio IEMs I demoed were Jimi and Roxanne and I did not like them at all. Since that time, many audiophiles on Headfi have seemed to like their more recent offerings. I think they are starting to focus more on the audiophile market and our requirements. They have been showing up to CanJams, but I haven't stopped by their booth lately.
I haven't heard it. If I have time, I will head over to JH Audio and listen. I should. They are famous and they have products that are highly rated. Not sure why I never stopped by to listen. I felt that same way about Noble until one of my friends brought me over to their booth and introduced me to their owners. Nice people and I got to hear the Kublai Khan which I did like.I wonder what’s your thoughts on the LAYLA? I'm finding IE600 easy to drive and a great all-rounder with any of my DAPs - even sounding great with my old ZX300!
On a road trip today in Fuerteventura - for those not familiar, an island in the Canary Islands, off the coast of Morocco. Some really beautiful beaches down on the south coast where we drove to today...

I'm amazed how your reflection did not show up in that shiny tube tops! You must have long hands!
