It almost looks like a copy of it, almost.
 
They would need to lower the price, or have better SQ over the M-50 to make them the better choice. $85 (from China) vs $130 (groupon) isn't a huge price difference.
 
I got my Superlux 681 EVO yesterday, and those are pretty damn good for the $59 I paid. Can't wait to try all of these.

I've been reading 60% of this thread and am now very interested in buying a Pro 80 and a Hi2050 for comparisement and interchanging parts. I like the look of the alu hinges on the Hi2050 and I like velours more than fake leather. So I would end up with a Pro 80 that has grey velours pads and alu colored hinges and a Hi2050 with fake leather pads and black hinges

 
This thread provided me with tons of info and pointed me towards another HP than the obvious Superlux'
 
I'm an Aliexpress buyer for more than a year now and I never encountered any trouble with their sellers. Seems I can buy both HP's together for $115 shipped. That's nice and tempting.

I got my Geminis (Pro-80) yesterday, but haven't gotten a chance to hear them yet.

The Gemini's (Pro 80) sound VERY nice. Easy to drive, nice bass/mid/treble, pretty neutral across the entire range. Excellent $50 monitors for sure. This was off my Nexus 7. Interested to hear its performance out of my incoming audio-gd dac/amp.

If you're wondering how the hi2050 sounds, pm me. it's an easy and reversible mod. I went other way around, hi2050->Pro80 and reverted back. Save 50.

Just ordered the Pro 80. Can anyone recommend a good DAC (and amp, if necessary) that pairs nicely with it? Budget is around $50-75. Possibly $100.

I'm thinking of getting the HI 2050's but I had a few questions of the 2050's vs the Technical Pro HPT990's. I know they are basically the same thing so no one probably bought them both. I'm just going off of images from amazon but the 2050's have light gray pads and the HPT990's have a black pad, I'm curious if one is more comfortable than the other? I don't know if anyone has tried them both, probably not but I'm just curious.
 
Also I think I read the HPT990's have a coiled cable is that right? I read that people were complaining that the coiled cable on their beyer's pulled down on the left side which was annoying, has anyone experienced anything like that with the HPT990's? Also the 2050's have a straight cord correct? I don't think the coiled cable would be too much of a problem because I'll use them right next to my PC but if they pull the left side down some that might be annoying.
 
I read throughout the thread that a few people had the 2050's as big as they'd go and they still barely fit on their head, did anyone actually buy them and find them to be too small? That's really my biggest worry, I'm just hoping they'll cover my whole ears and be really comfortable, that's really more important to me than the sound. I forgot to add this earlier, do the 2050/990's go all the way over your ear? I guess that depends on your ear size but for normal sized ears. I remember seeing some place that sold them called them on ear but I thought most people here said they covered their whole ear so I wanted some clarification.

Both pads are velour so comfort should be similar but I don't have both so I can't say for sure. I have the hpt990s, I found the coiled cable annoying and lopped it off shortly. modded it for a detachable cable. the headphones do run small, I wear a 7 1/2 cap and I'm about halfway up the forks. Most other headphones, I barely extend them at all, so bigger heads will have issues.

These HD6000s sound GREAT through my audio-gd nfb 11.32. Neutral but natural mids and highs. Nice weighty bass, but not overpowering.
 
I'll have to run my Superlux 681 EVO, Pro-80, and Bluedios through the DAC when I get some time. I also have the Noontec Hammos on the way.

Might help to know what source(s) your going to be plugging the Pro 80s into?

Edit: How do you like the Pro 80's compared to the Brainwavz HM5? The Jaycar Pro Monitor is the other phone I'm thinking about getting.

Short summary of HD6000 and pro80 comparsion :
- pro80 are delicate
- hd6000 have more bass (kind of immersive, but i think that it dimished a little with time), and slightly more treble
- the quality of build of hd6000 is amazing (however they are not for persons with large heads, similarly as pro80)
- hd6000 has amazing sound separation from the outside world, you cannot basically here persons making conversation nearby, and basically, you can put the volumn quite loud, and very little leaks out
The one imprefect thing is a narrow sound stage, with that sound quality you would like it to extend further out of your head.
 
I like the delicacy of pro80, and I actually use them a lot (in work); hd6000 were kind of left in my house, where I use have more confortable headphones (for larger heads and open); so I've actually never compared them side by side.
