Also look at TS-662, very good headphones + swivel cups will better sit to your head, but not as studry as 2050's are. Sound is almost identical, but in 662's your ears will be not so warm at summer.
About sound card - i listen to my 2050's on internal VIA VT2021. Didn't notice any dramatical changes, when plug into Dr.Dac Nano sound card+amp, maybe in details...

I remember someone say idance Ibiza 103 is same oem. I got one and it's awesome. The bass is tight and the treble is clear.

Can anyone tell me a little about the isolation on the HI2050s? I'm looking to get these for my son, and I want low isolation (think Grado or AKG Q701) so that he can have a possibility of hearing when parents call him. :)

Also, they would primarily be used for gaming, and I'm guessing from what I have read that the soundstage is fairly big--not as big as fully open, but better than closed?

Isolation in 2050's quite good, but if you don't listen on high volumes you can hear what others speaking to you.

Thanks for replying. I'm wondering if anyone can qualify this a little more? I'm really looking to understand better exactly how much isolation these have. Is it similar to a DT880? Right now, my son wears one cup on the ear and one off to keep his mom happy so he can hear her. I'd really like to find some headphones with minimal isolation so he can have a full stereo/surround experience while gaming and still listen for her.

In sound quality (for my ears, of course) I would put TS-662 above Pro 80's

Thank you, now can anyone tell me how I'm supposed to resist getting them

I didn't test that while I had dt880 but I suppose isolation is pretty much the same with 2050. Something with completely open back would be better but I doubt those would not work either without lowering the sound volume a lot.  Bone conduction headphones would be the answer but I'm pretty sure those sound horrible.

Hmmm...I'll have to think about that then. My experience was also that the DT880s are more isolating than fully open cans. Fully open headphones would be better. My experience is that they can get loud, but they bleed a lot of sound out, and you can hear your environment better.

Yeah. Not going to do bone conduction headphones. I'd rather get something that is pleasurable to listen to. He's already into headphones enough that he wouldn't use it if sounds bad.

Sony has some headphones that might work well. Ma900 looks like it might let outside sound in. Cheaper alternative could be Sony MDR-605LP if you can find those anywhere. Those might not sound that great but maybe you could put some other drivers there. Ultimate way to solve the problem would be akg k1000 if amping is taken care of and money is not an issue :)

For what it's worth, I asked Takstar what was best between Pro 80, HD5500, and HD6000.  This was their reply:

I prefer HD6000, it features clear highs and punchy bass.

Yeah. I don't want to spend that much. If I was going to spend a good bit more, I'd probably get the DT990s since they are fully open and ~$145 on Amazon.

@cel4145 what about the Takstar TS-662? They're fully open and should provide less isolation.

Another simple solution would be Grado SR60.
