The Sennheiser HD 800: The First Listen, The First Review
May 6, 2009 at 1:25 PM Post #4,831 of 5,928
I'm no longer in the running for these phones, but yes I do\did have a right to vent my frustration! I did lose $400 (yes, part of the blame falls on me) by selling a couple of shares of stock early, based on the information that the phones would be ready Late Feb\Early March. Whether or not that was misinformation on Sennheisers part or pure vendor speculation, we'll never know.

I understand what you're saying Tyll, but you have to also understand that when news such as this is released it's going to cause a frenzy, and then to have the date yanked back every month (?) what kind of reaction was Senn expecting? They pretty much could have said the 'Summer of 2009' from the get go and forget about preorders....

Ah, well I don't have a dog in this fight anymore /rant off

Sennheiser does not take preorders, resellers do.

That's what I meant, forget the whole preorder and when they're ready do a first come first serve.

However, they did ok my dealer to take my pre-order and gave them (& in turn me) an over optimistic delivery date.

Ahh, whatever! But it's still fun to complain.

As I was half way through the post I realized that removing the opportunity to speculate would turn this place into a ghost town.

There is nothing more to be said on this issue than has already been stated, so I guess we just wait and see.

See above.

Dood, everyone is affected. That's why they call it a "Global" crisis.

Baloney! I've had an order in with them since Jan 9. It started at 50 units, it's been modified repeatedly and is 135 now, I think. Plus two more orders scheduled to follow the first to be sure we're in line for ongoing shipments. Believe me, if there's anyone really whacked upside the head in this thing it's us retailers.

Quality comes in all sorts of flavors, mate, but I'm sure there will be an impressions thread.

There are billionaires, who are waiting sometimes over a year, for some earlier announced super-car to come (and some of them had payd big money for fixing their number 1 in preorders)... Sure, the difference is, that they have lot of 'toys' to play with, during waiting time...
But what i wanted to say, it's just 166 posts to 5000

Where are they produce them, Germany only or Ireland as well? Maybe Sennheiser have some troubles with suppliers who's been hitted quite heavy by crisis. They do use suppliers for parts, are they?
