The PENON official thread

Just a heads up, I listed my Penon Serial up for sale in the classifieds. I have stumbled across a planar/bone conduction IMR IEM and it has peaked my interest, looking to try that out. The serial has been outstanding for the couple months that I have had it, hopefully it can bring joy to its new owner.

So here I leave you with my humble opinion on the Penon Sphere.

I hope you like it.

Interesting review. Haven’t heard the Sphere yet but I’ve been gravitating back towards single-driver IEMs - DD, BA and planar alike - and the best implementations make one start to wonder why we needed so many extra drivers in the first place.

You received a Totem adapter with your Sphere? That alone is almost worth the price of admission! :)

This. Multiple drivers often complicates things and I've repeatedly underestimated the value of a well executed single driver, be that DD or BA.

The Totem adapter came in the same package, to facilitate a single bulk. It will be reviewed separately.

As I take photos of a strict unboxing, I left it there. But, it is true that it is not part of the sphere accessories. I apologise if that could lead to any misunderstanding.

Do review it with the Sphere and any other Penons you have as well. :)

It appears that mine has become permanently attached to the Volt.

Totem material is an anomaly. I got a Totem 3.5mm to 3.5mm interconnect I use between my source the Shanling M3S line out and my portable amp an older Ibasso PB3. Makes the Ibasso PB3 sound like a full fledged desktop amp. You figure a small interconnect wouldn't make much of a difference in the chain. Going back to the pure silver interconnect and I just can't do it. It don't sound the same.

Not to mention what them Totem adapters do for your other cables and IEMs.

My HiFiBoy OS V3 is now complete and ready for your perusal.

Tl;dr: want atmospheric bass, a euphonic midrange, and smooth fatigue free treble with competent technicalities at a very reasonable price? Buy the HiFiBoy OS V3. I can give my full recommendation to this forgotten gem of an IEM.

Hmmm @Penon, I recently ordered a Leo Plus cable, not yet received. Is this offer applicable to pending orders already placed?

Hey fellas! I've been out of the portable game for too long, and I have decided it's time to change that. Thanks to all those who have shared in this thread, I have decided on the Cayin RU6 and Penon Serial, and can't wait to have quality sound wherever I go. Spring is in full effect here in Texas and it's time to get outside, and it will be nice to have a quality portable setup to take with me. I have had a few Penon cables in the past (of which I loved), but this will be my first iem from them and am very excited to hear it.

If you have a Leo plus in your inventory, they'd go great with. They're semi-flagship sounding to my ears.
Enjoy the outdoors and the Serials! :beerchug:

Thanks, and I appreciate the insight about that cable pairing! :beerchug: I don't own a Leo Plus, but I do plan to upgrade the cable and the Leo plus has been added to my wish list. I do have a few cables already I plan to try as well and can't wait. I have a Pac480 and OS849 for budget cables and I also have a Satin Audio Athena 8 wire as my TOTL cable and look forward to hearing how they all pair with the Serials.
