A small repost from the headphone thread... So I've been invited to the Singapore country release event.  I think this will be the last time chance we have to ask the engineers (in this case Mr. Nageno) about these products.  Ladies and gentlemen, time to have your questions answered.  Event will be going on at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel on Oct 1st, 12PM -5PM.

PS: For any Singaporean Head-Fi'ers who would like to come (and anyone who can make it), please do PM me!

Does the cheaper version sound considerably better than the ZX2? If not it may be hard to sell with all the downsides (no streaming, no charging while using as a transport etc.)

have seen reviews it is a major step-up from ZX2, tho many of these sites are in asian languages and you know google translates so bad in english (not to mention spanish is even worse)

I bet they will sound even better with the wm1 series, have a recording with difficult to extract reverberation give the church and the organ, my XBA-A3 couldn't get the revreb at all, rendering it somehow dry... decided to test it with the Z5 nd was amused with the fact i could hear reverb from that particular recording (BWV 541 Tocatta ad fugue in G major from Hanssler Classic BACH edition "Heyday in weymar" Wolfgang Zerer i think the solist)

Z5 very different from the A3, the Z5 version has very powerful bass and if you add a custom cable that makes the headphones even better.

Also no need to do an "IMO" guess to why they dumped Android - the interview done by phileweb with the walkman devs already said why:
http://www.phileweb.com/interview/article/201609/02/393_4.html
For those who don't read J:
* Users complained the most about lag, slow powering up, and didn't find the need to run apps on their Walkman
* They can upgrade the OS at their own pace - no need to go lock step with Android
* Yes - power consumption was a major concern

I guess the next couple of months we will see second handed ZX100, ZX1 and ZX2 for sale at affordable prices...
As for me i will keep my ZX100 hopefully for a couple of years, until then these new WM1Z and WM1A will have their prices lowered for us "common mortals" to be able to acquire one for less than 1000€

So they put a gold plated copper shielding plate in the ZX2 but not on the WM1A?
