Which portable player which has streaming has the most similar sound to the Sony?
Buy Sony NW-ZX507. I had it before I bought the NW-WM1A. The NW-ZX507 has terrific warm sound - as good as the NW-WM1A with Mr. Walkman's firmware (discussed here) tuned to the warmest signature. Maybe, even better. Its main problem is that it only outputs native DSD on the balanced 4.4 output (not the regular 3.5 output), and I have headphones with a built in analog amplifier and a non-balanced cable (I couldn't find a replacement for those even after testing many headphones up to $2000). The NW-WM1A also outputs native DSD only on the 4.4 jack, but the mentioned firmware fixes that, so I returned the NW-ZX507 and bough NW-WM1A (I don't use streaming - I prefer to have my collection on a disk, preferably in DSD).

Hey,

Does anyone know how the WM1A compares to the Cowon Plenue R2? I'm especially interested in battery life and EQ: I need to be able to save different EQs for my IEMs/headphones (at least 10 EQs).

Thanks!
