Really? Wow. I wouldn't even put the K701 in the same planet as Etys when it comes to bass.

I think Grado SR-80/SR-225/SR-325 are all overrated unless they have Todd's flat pads -- otherwise no difference with the plain old SR-60.

Based on the ones I have tried, I would say Koss The SparkPlug or Shure e2c. I don't know how the e2c retails for $100 and I would rather have no headphones than The SparkPlug (yes they are that bad!!!).

Well, I didn't really notice any bass with the K701, because the systems I tried them with at the NYC Meet sounded painfully bright to me.

But then, I listen to Future Sonics IEMs pretty much exclusively, and they're known for treble roll off (though not so much with the new Atrio) and massive bass. Even my Beyerdynamic DT250-80's are fatiguing compared to my Future Sonics.

So yeah, the K701 and especially any Etymotics are way too bright for me. The HD650 sounded pretty nice with the right equipment, though.
