In the past couple of weeks I bought a Beyer A1 amp for $280.00 US equivalency and a Beyer T1 for $345.00 US equivalency on Canuck Audio Mart. The amp is in great shape and the headphones look brand new, *one owner* which I always prefer when buying used headphones. My reasoning behind my purchases : about ten years ago, both the amp & headphone sold for a lot of money at that time and were considered excellent products. Therefore I reasoned, why wouldn't they still sound great ? They sure do & I'm quite happy with my decision. I've owned more expensive headphones and amps in the past but this combination is just as good and meets the sound qualities that I prefer. Very clear and very detailed with a great midrange. I use a Schiit Loki tone adjuster &/ or a JDS Labs Subjective3 tone adjuster and can set the bass, midrange and treble to my exact liking. A lot depends on the recorded production. I'm also a dinosaur in the sense that I listen to CDs, no downloaded music. My CD player is one of the very best ever made in it's price range, the Teac PD-H600 which also has a terrific internal DAC. Based on many years of experience in this hobby and having owned different headphones & amps in different price ranges, etc. my amp & headphone collection is now modest but good enough.
