It is not moisture that degrade the plether, it is man grease that does it.

All pleather material nowadays are biodegradable, with similar material formula of plastic shopping bag which will degrade in a few years when left in dumpster. It is for environmental friendly reason.

So the best way to keep long life for pleaher is to wipe clean it with a slightly antiseptic liquid (e.g.Dettol) dampened cloth after use. This will remove the "bio" content (i.e. face and head grease) causing the "degrade".

I thought I would post a quick update, I went ahead and purchased the Beyerdynamic Custom Pro replacement headband and removed the old T1 headband cushion and it pretty much fits perfectly on the T1.

Today my first listen to T1.2 with a Schiit Valhalla 2. The T1.2 was second hand, so it did not have to break in. Now my Stax L700 mk 1 sounds too bright with the SRM T1-S, and the T1.2 sounds too woolly. I guess the Schiit Valhalla 2 is too cheap to compete with Stax and the SRM T1-S is no good either. So my plans are to get me a second hand Woo WA2 and a Japanese SRM 007tA 100 Volt with a step down adaptor. (Coming from 230 Volt.) I guess I'll start with the WA2, I like the T1.2 even though too woolly. Source: Qobuz-Studio with Ayre 24/96.

Hi, I will have the T1.2 as my wet hair headphones...

Is that some new Head-Fi thing? As in, you have a specific set of 'phones for after a workout or a shower? :L3000:

Hello)
I found "Basshead mod" for T1 - use denon ah-d7200 earpads (maybe 5200 too, i have only 7200).
Yes, they do not fit. I just applied them, but the effect exceeded all my expectations. Ditalization is greatly reduced, less high frequencies, but this bass, if you select the appropriate recordings, the bass "blows" .
They start to sound a lot more like D7200 than T1.
I find it funny :)

p.s.Sorry for my english.
it’s mostly Google translate

But T1 is a way better headphone than D7200!!

P.S. I misread „D7200“ as „D7100“. I swallow my words!

I tried a lot of pads on my T1. I have 3 pairs of Dekoni pads (for Baers), several types of original pads for Baers and none of them give such an effect on the bass. Bass is getting VERY powerful :)
It seems interesting to me, nothing more :)
Just if you suddenly have a couple of pads from the D7200 at hand, try them on your T1. It's very funny :)

Its crazy how a former flagship audiophile headphone costs less most consumer earphones like the airpods.
Yep. Many of the yesteryear flagships are still great such as the generation 1 T1 or HD-800. I usually wait a few years until after the hype on a particular headphone dies down before I look at purchasing it. You can sometimes pick up a fantastic pair of headphones/IEMs for 40-50% or more off the initial release price.

I would like to have my set of T1 G1 modded for a detachable cable. Does anyone have any recommendations, ideally in the US? I am willing to ship further if the price is right. Do any members perform this?

Question about the T1 2nd generation with the removable cables, anyone find a good price ($100 or less) pair of balanced cables that are as good or better than the Beyer recommended or that you think are outstanding?
thanks.
