The stock 64 Audio cable is terrible.

For a $1699 iem, come with a $39.99 retail price cable is really a joke.
I will knock out a star I review for that.
You could look at it another way - if it came with a $300 cable and cost $2000 would you buy it? Or, if like some top-tier IEMs, it came with a $1000 cable and cost $2700, would it have anywhere near the same appeal?

That said you do pay a premium for 64 Audio IEMs. They're expensive and for good reason - they're better than mostly anything else out there IF you're after the particular combination of features they offer (like Tia, LiD, Apex). There's a tax to pay for R&D, and also for the name that's associated with high-end professional use.

And all that said, I agree with you these IEMs should at least offer a bundle option with a better cable.

Ergonomically yes, though I find the stock premium cable that came with the Trio sounds better to me than the premium silver cable that sells for $500. It's also more comfortable when worn than the thicker silver cable.

I agree with you as well, I bought it mainly to check out those unique features that others don’t have.
I’ll get a better cable If I decide to keep this iem.

So, what is the verdict in the end on FIR audio modules with the Nio? I saw the O module mentioned in this thread, but I only see an (expensive) 4-pack on the FIR audio website. Can you buy it separately?

Btw, are these modules used for custom FIR iems? The universals don't seem to have the modules?

I've been told the universals all have the -15 module built-in by default. For the customs, you can choose between a non-interchangeable, built-in module like the universals or a swappable system like 64 have.

You can buy it separately yes; I did that a couple months ago.

I posted some impressions and comparisons here regarding the Nio with the FIR module.

My TL;DR - For me it loses a bit of soul with the FIR. It brings the mids and treble forward quite a bit - not aggressive or sibiliant, but markedly more in-your-face than with the M15 / M20. The uptick in volume necessitated by the reduction in bass (to get the kick) combined with that forwardness can be fatiguing, to my ears.

One of the best-looking combinations I've seen to date in modern porta-fi. With sound to match! Nio + PWAudio PW10 8-wire (which I have on loan to test).

Mine is stunning as well! Paired with Beat Audio Achelois 8 wires.

Yes you can, just email them for a separate Module O purchase, and they will send you the payment request and receipt.
