Just for Wualta, here's a few pix of my Sansui SS-100 "Omni-Dynamic" headphones.

I'm not too sure what year this model was produced and would appreciate any info that head-fiers could contribute.

I'll post some impressions as the novelty wears off my new AT706s.

Cheers.

Yaaaay! Photos!

Good ones, too. Thanks, IC. From the contruction, I'd say Fostex made these (or at least the drivers) from about 1980--1985. Don't forget to tell us where you got 'em and what made you take a chance on 'em in the first place.

I picked up the SS-100s on Ebay some time back before the prices went nuts.

What made me take a chance on them? A bad combination of curiosity and new toy lust.

I'm always taking chances on vintage phones. Some times I get lucky, mostly not but I have fun and I learn something.

Cool headphones. What drivers did Fostex made for these, T20, T40 type or something different?

We got hold of the drivers and took photos over at the OrthyRoundy thread. Ericj actually tinkered up some working headphones from them.

Ah, I missed that one. T50ish driver, very cool.

Here's a scan of a vintage flyer for the SS100s; showing a cutaway of the driver and housing.

On Ebay at great expense.
Where else?

That was the largest size I was allowed to post. Unless there's a trick I'm missing.
I have the original scans in 300dpi so, If I have to, I can prolly shrink them down a little and email them to you.

Those are some mighty handsome headphones!

I have been looking for a pair but they seem to as rare as the T50

Well, I've only ever come across one pair of SS100s and I bought them.
That said, I've never yet seen a pair of T50s or even Realistic Pro 30s for that matter.

There are some other owners out there I'm sure.
They're no doubt a tad shy.
