Just joined the club. Got my AK100MkII yesterday and sold off my X5. Love the interface but the only thing I miss is the ability to format a Micro SD card in the unit... Or I haven't figured that out yet. Price was good at $800 CDN taxes in.
My X5 too about a month to break in and sound good with my RS1i. Will see how the AK handles my different HPs.
Working my wat through this thread. May take a while :)

You got an AK100 Mk2 or AK100II for $800?

Should be mk2 since that's the retail price. I doubt anywhere besides Japan and Korea has the 2nd gen for ak100

MkII. Retail in Canada is 849 + 13% tax. Deal for here. Retail for next version will be $999 Canadian and should be available in a motet or so.

Hey new to this forum and decided to join since I just got a new AK100 myself. I purchased it for around $400 new and also purchased a new SONY PHA-2 and was wondering what to pair it with. Currently what I have for headphones are AKG 701, ATechnica M50, ATechnica ESW9, MDR-1RNC but was looking for a good in ear solution. Any suggestions?

Hi,

just purchased a used AK 100 on Ebay auction and I'm eagerly waiting to receive it. I have a question to those who already own it. Does it support 128 GB SD cards? I have read about formatted 64 GB cards, but it would be much better being able to use a lager storage capacity.

Yes, format to Fat32

Thanks for information. Some more questions from a newbie. Should I buy an SDXC card? What type of SD card is preferable for use with AK 100?

For 128gb there's only 1 type for SanDisk. I'd recommend SanDisk as they are usually reliable.

btw make sure it'd a micro sd

Yes. You need the micro sd if you need more storage space. AK100 only has 32gb internal, and usually that is not enough if you have high res files.

Ok, I just thougt it supported a standard SD instead of micro SD.

Yes, I know. I do have a lot of FLACs, mostly16/44 CD rips, but even though internal 64 GB of my current Sony NW-F887 fills up quickly.

I'm browsing the web searching information on formatting a card to FAT32. It is mentioned there that this particular SanDisk card is in ExFAT standard by default. Is it easy to format it to FAT32? I have both Mac and PC.

Hey guys, quick question. Anyone know where to purchase an Ak100 motherboard? My volume controls are busted and it would seem as though the fault lies in the motherboard.

Best bet is to contact iRiver directly via website, though they might not be prepared to sell you one without you paying them labour to do the swap. Not much point sourcing one from a 2nd hand unit like you might for a phone/whatever, chances are the 2nd hand unit is in pretty good nick so you might as well simply use that rather than your existing one if you were going to go down that path. Plus buying a 2nd hand unit for this purpose isn't exactly going to be a $100 spend like it would if you were purchasing a 2nd hand phone to cannibalise for parts, more like several hundred $.
