anyone was able to download the new firmware by OTA? It says "failed" and I can't download.
I tried Hiby website but I need to install something from Baidu to be able to download the firmware, and I don't want to do this.

Anyone has another source? Version 1.16.

If you're using a USB-Coax cable with R3+Mijo, just replace it to the USB-USB cable because USB-Coax is not bit-perfect and actually NOT the usb out.
Wait, what? Coax isn't bit perfect?

I know it's melodramatic but I feel a little cheated to hear that.

Could u expand on this conclusion? I totally assumed it would be but i would be the first to admit i don't know jack. I'm very interested to know how this came to be.

USB SoundPath: flac/mp3 -> decoder -> PreProcessor [DSP/MSEB] -> PCM -> USB digital
COAX Soundpath: flac/mp3 -> decoder -> PreProcessor [DSP/MSEB] -> PCM -> PostProcessor (Volume+[EQ]) -> ALSA mixer -> coax encoder -> COAX out (dedicated USB pins)
[...] means that "feature" can be turned off.
USB digital is almost bit-prefect (expect some sample loss at begin/end).

Hiby said it was there choice that Eq and 8ball remain active on digital out.
So technically it's not bitperfect, that doesn't mean that it's bad.
As long as you don't use 8ball and EQ it is. You dont HAVE to use it.....

I just received the Hiby R3 and updated it to the latest firmware.
The device is horribly laggy/slow (before or after the update makes no difference)
What's a Fiio r3?
Can someone please tell me how I can play all songs from a specific genre or artist?
I can't find an option to play all.

EDIT : Found it.

I also found out the Fiio R3 has a 20.000 songs limit so large cards with 320 mp3's are a no no.
My Fiio M7 doesn't has this limit.

My Fiio M7 doesn't has this limit.
Whadda mistaketomake! Ofcourse it's Hiby R3, not Fiio R3.
I wasn't talking about the Fiio M7 which, indeed, doesn't has that limit.
My Hiby R3 stopped counting at 20.000 while there are 24.000+ tracks on the card.
I asked Hiby and they confirmed there is a hard limit set at 20.000 tracks to ensure decent performance.

Hello everyone :) Happy to join Hiby family with my R3.. Too many settings like mseb etc, this might take a while :) are there any guides on how to use the mseb ?
I have flc8s and akgk701, but maybe one day I will get MrSpeakers AFO :)

For R3 and IEM or CIEM users:
how do you store your equipment?

I am seeking for a portable hardcase that can carry my R3 and CIEMs securely, for daily use.
I have a pelican and a roadcase but these are not really portable, meaning carrying around in the pocket of my jeans when I am on the go.
Anyone who can present his solution?

This is what I use. It stores my R3, Onkyo DP-X1, Alclair CIEMs and B&O E8 nice and sturdy. Its a bad pic but the case is a Lowepro soft shell.
