Sat down to start working on my X5ii review, and the right fan on my 2007 MacBook Pro decided to take a very fast nosedive. Before I shut down, left fan was at 6,000 rpm and right fan was at 800 rpm :(

I replaced the left fan recently, so I guess I've discovered that these fans gave an 8yr lifespan

Then I went on eBay and found a replacement fan for $10. Yay!

Unfortunately I forgot to change the shipping address, so it's getting shipped to my old workplace. Boo!

Hopefully the seller works with me to get that figured out quickly. Don't want to write the review on my iPad, but am starting to fear I must

Have you ever measured the volume you're listening at Igor?

Just curious - because of the comments on the headache and the people around you (with the Titan).  I mean it doesn't have a lot of isolation - but unless you have it turned up quite a bit, it's still not that noticeable IMO.

Any chance you could try it at your normal listening levels - then shove the nozzle into an SPL meter and measure the peaks?

Hey Brooko,

I see your concern. I've never measured my listening levels but I've noticed that my normal listening levels are usually quieter than most people. I think that the Titans give me a headache because it's such a forward and overwhelming signature. I listen to a lot of trance and house music which has constant loops, some with pretty aggressive percussion sequences, which maybe the cause.

Thanks mate - was just a bit concerned that it may have been the volume.

I'm also finding myself second guessing the A73 - despite reading the impressions from Vince and yourself.  As you'l recall, I wasn't a big fan of the A71, and someone I know who has experience with the A71, A83 and now A73 has said that it is a warmish sound sig. Sort of between A83 and A71. I personally love the sound sig on the Titans - and I guess I'm just trying to correlate all the different impressions to get a composite of the A73.  Unlike most - I'm pretty cautious - as it doesn't sound like a signature that would really tick my boxes.

Hoping to hear it when I get back from my business trip (maybe before if I'm lucky) - then I'll know for sure.

I've got one, and that's the route I was thinking of going. Still a PITA compared to using my MBP

Just watched WWDC video. iOS 9 looks like it'll make things sooo much better...

That sucks a giant mountain of sweaty ass.
I'm surprised that Apple didn't have the fan welded in, with a booby trap backup just in case somebody tried to repair something rather than replace it.

Seems to me that "tailored audio device" is just a fancy way of saying equalizer. But, I suppose quite a few people would welcome a portable EQ.

Thank for the comment about GF, she was reading your post and had a laugh as she is not that young, she's 42 and her daughter just graduated from college in May, I was able to retired at 52 due to cutbacks in military funding so I got a great bonus of which some is used for this hobby.  She also likes to listen with headphones while she is working out so I got her a momentum on-ear two years ago for her birthday:

Have a great day everyone!
Cheers friend, I'm glad you found humor in my comment and didn't take any type of offense to it.

Glad you are part of the thread buddy.

It's one of the older ones, where you can pop the top off and repair / upgrade a lot of parts yourself :)

So far, I've upgraded to 512GB SSD + 6GB RAM and repaired the left fan :L3000:

The CPU is soldered down, or I'd swap that out for a faster one :(

As it is, it rocks that I can use an 8yo laptop and feel happier with its performance than my last work laptop, which was only 2yo \m/ \m/

If you know how it is being shipped like Fed Ex or UPS and have an online username you can change the delivery address or when you get the tracking number you can call them and have it changed also. I have done this a couple of times.
