My guess is you need to connect to the USB-C input on your car, either via a type-C to type-C cable, or a type-C OTG cable plus a regular type-C cable (with a type-A plug connecting to the OTG output)

Do I need to reset the USB-C input on the DAP to " line out"in settings ? If so where is "line out" in the R3 ? Does line out only output music ?

Did you check whether your R3 is the bar or slash version and choose the corresponding version of the firmware to download and try to install? From previous correspondence I can see you need the slash version.

As far as I can see, there are options for "Storage", "Audio" and "Dock" for the USB mode, but those only affect how the USB port is utilized when connected to a USB host (e.g. computer, or maybe the large port on your car), not a USB slave (e.g. the USB-C port on your car or an outboard DAC). Storage means to use the connection to transfer files, Audio means to output audio from the host TO the R3 for output on the R3 headphone ports, Dock is not a mode you should worry about in general.

When connected to a USB slave (e.g. the USB-C port on your car) the R3 outputs audio via USB, no matter what the above USB mode is set to (it's irrelevant).

It a bar version according to what I see on my R3. The picture is after I did the OTA update

No problem, and unless you'd switched players somewhere down the line, I can swear I saw you having to use the slash version before.

Damn, looks like I will have to try this out. R3Pro was already great, but a little more of a reference sound would be icing on the cake.

I've just found out there is apparently a 20k song limit? This is pretty infuriating. I have about 50k songs, they've all transferred correctly onto a 512g card.

I saw on another page of this thread someone had made custom firmware to fix this. Does this still work? I updated the firmware ota when I got my r3, so would I need to reset to factory settings or something?

Edit: Ah, I see this is for the R3 and noone has done this for the R3pro just yet.

It's a bit of a weird decision to put in a hard limit. Everything is still there and accessible navigating via file folders, which actually offers better organisation than being limited to album or artist. No option to sort via album artist for example is really annoying. Seems like a really great product sound wise that is let down by some really dumb decisions in terms of UI. Like if you are going to allow for memory as high as 2tb why would you put in a 20k hard limit on songs.
