Seems those drivers are everywhere. When I get to it I'll try the tdk drivers on some assembly. I think it was the in cable equalizer that made them to sound so Bad.

Here is JBL E40BT and E50bt. Center one is JBL synchros S400BT. It's not a driver but I thought I'd add it anyway. Only way to get to the drivers is from the back and to get there you need to go through millions of wires and a battery. On the other earcup it is the same except it is sealed. Call mcgyver.



This one is pretty interesting. It is Bosshifi B7. Supposedly berylliym (coated) driver. As stock the headphones sound pretty bad but drivers have a huge potential. Other headphones with same drivers are considered to punch way beyond their price range(60-70usd). I have a modded pair with these drivers that I think easily bests anything below $200.

Worth noting is the magnet. I don't think I've ever come across a magnet so powerfull while modding. You actually have to focus to keep the screwdriver steady when working on the edge because the magnet keeps pulling it in! Don't mind the holes in the last picture. Center and the side holes are made by me. Only the holes on the outer edge of the baffle are stock ones.

Finally a good look at these bosshifis... I've been curious to see what's in those for a while.
Looks like they've taken a half decent generic driver and put it into a sort of Beyerdynamic T1 configuration, but WAY cheaper execution... it doesn't even look angled...(?)

Drivers on B7 and b8 are angled. Poor picture, sorry. Bosshifi B6 doesn't have a angled driver.

Some have wondered If creative h5 is a rebrand of takstar pro80. I't is not. Here is pro80.
Here is creative sound blasterx h5. Angled driver and dampening material looks really diy.

This is House of Marley TTR. $34 on Amazon now. With nc on these sound pretty good and build quality is impressive. Driver is angled and baffle is metal which is quite rare I think. I thought I'd just sell these soon as I've opened them but I'm definately keeping these.

And now, a Focal Spirit One (?) driver. Copped these for rather cheap, as one of the drivers (the one pictured) was rattling. No visible damage, so I can only assume some debris has got stuck between the magnet and coil, or something of that nature. Interesting driver. From what I could tell with just the functioning driver, they seemed pretty capable, though the stock tuning wasn't good. Going to try opening it up and seeing what's going on. The images don't really show the driver's proper look. It's an almost mirror finish on the diaphragm, as apposed to the somewhat darker "graphene" type look in the images. Focal claims a titanium coating, which makes sense.

Makes sense. When I pulled the driver's out of the baffle (which was quite the crusade with a scalpel), I did notice the driver was quite heavily crinkled. I figured I had just done that when I was ripping it out. I "pulled" the crinkles out with some blu-tack before taking the photos. I'll play in free air in a bit, and see if that helped any.

After taking the crinkles out there should be no more distortions/rattling.

The problem lies in the air pressure on the ear-side pushing the diaphragm in when you put it on your head.
Normally baffle venting allows enough air to get behind the driver while you do this to balance out the pressure difference.

I wonder if Focal would still honour a replacement of defective goods, since this was a HUGE problem when they came out.

He400i with he400. Quite different looks.

Nothing that has not been seen before. Since I had the headphones open anyway I took couple of pictures. Denon ah-d5000.
Royal Air force vintage aviator headphones. Chinese wooden headphones. Looks identical to langsdom va800. Same housing oem as bosshifi, msur etc.

• I think driver was 50mm. Forgot to measure it.

Took apart some of My on ear headphones. First one is maxell retro DJ aka Fischer audio fa-004, brainwavz hm5, Project hear it one, Ace mp68, incipio f38 etc... I did not want to remove the driver from The housing or foam cover because I'd Be really bummed If something went wrong. I really like these driver is 38mm diameter.

Exibel mhx10 and Dick Smith vt68. Same OEM, propably same driver. Did not remove The driver from The housing because I'm selling both.
Akg k495NC. Back of the  driver looks familiar but I don't remember where I've seen it before. Diaphgram is a bit weird. I't seems very thick when I touch it. Not like ordinary headphone driver. Beevo bv-hm700. 40mm. Looks plain but sounds really good for a $15 on ears.

DK75 being the model number.
There is another 75 that is volume dialed with larger shell.
DK86 looks interesting from a design perspective.

Baffles pop out easy.
What I though was a lame cable actually has some of the best copper inside, no corrosion =given the time period I was ready to lose it right away but no way.
( military grade??)
Stranded but thick per strand with less strands.
Hardly any peelback on the thinner wire insulation when soldering.

Sound is better than I expected but the fit sucks.
Trying other new puffy pads.
Design is cool aesthetically.
Very clear sound.
Bass is there but not a lot.
Have a peek at the rears with that rubbery plastic cover. If you look close there are 4 perimeter rear vents in the driver rears.
I might only need to remove that cover ( if possible ) to release that bass , that can't be helping AT ALL..
I almost tossed these out after tryin the headband fit.
Might be some hidden potential here.

Gamma hi1000 infrared headphones. I tried to remove the driver from baffle but it just would not come off. Very strong glue.
Another driver that refused to come off. Things got a bit ugly. Pioneer se-m290. 40mm, 32ohm, 102db.

Turns out they have double enclosure system. Screws on the back are VERY small so I could not open these.
