Magnat LZR980
Dome stiffened with a ring of titanium coating.
Transparent dome reveals foam damping INSIDE the driver. (not so easy to see)
Vent damping material also, INSIDE the driver.
Very few unwanted reflections going on here.

^ Also the diaphragm as built by testing with lasers to decrease distortion was it not?

According to the website, it was sent to a place where literlaly the only thing they do is callibrate drivers with lasers.

Copied directly from the website:
...the LZR measuring technique is the Klippel measuring system. This utilises a laser beam in a specially designed vacuum chamber. The laser measuring technique significantly enhances the precision & accuracy of the measurements in comparison to conventional methods. It enables the fundamental aspectsof the chassis to be analysed, with the slightest discrepancies being brought immediately to light.

Aiwa HP-30

I've been searching for these for a while (mostly for its chassis for a driver transplant). I found one in alright condition although the cable was cut off. Just had to wipe them down, shine up the metallic parts, and recable them. There was another listing at the same time for these headphones but with its original box. The bidding went for a little too high than what I'd like.

Not too fond of the sound. Odd midrange while seemingly bass light. I only played them while holding the driver up to my ear though.

Also uploaded in the orthodynamic thread.

Fostex T30 diaphragm and magnets.

Kind of interesting how they had electrical tape(?) on in the last picture.

Beyer was the first thing I thought when I saw the diaphragm. Looks and feels well made. I'd stripped it down to check for hairs on the diaphragm, found two stuck under the outer rim, a bit of a trap for them. Very thick damping wad between the driver and the rear, open via holes in the back cover, under the mesh.

Technics RP-F5 (X.B.S.)
50mm double-dome driver.
Looks uncommonly 'flat' from both sides. There is a central vent hole in the back, and a secondary vent with foam on the edge of the magnet housing beside the solder contacts.

Toshiba HR-811
Absolutely stunningly simple and elegant design.
Active area - 50mm
Driver housing - around 60mm

Here we have a Somic mh463 drivers. They use this double enclosure system that looks like a back of a driver but it is just a cover. Somic's are a very nice sounding $50 headphones. V-shaped in signature.

These are TDK St800 drivers with somic. TDK's cost about 300usd when new. Imo those sounded bad regardless of price. Drivers look identical except for the different venting holes and blue voice coil on TDK's. Both are 50mm. Somic is 45ohm and TDK is 200ohm.

V-moda uses similar drivers. I don't have a picture but you can see it here in innerfidelity article: https://www.innerfidelity.com/content/how-headphone-dynamic-drivers-work

I also had a Knowledge Zenith headphones that are a copy of V-Modas. Build quality wise those two were identical and bot had the similar looking red drivers that somic's have.

You can also buy the driver here for $23 https://www.aliexpress.com/item/50mm-speaker-unit-Headphone-Accessories-for-V-moda/32257959844.html

I wonder how many other headphones use this same driver or a tuned version :)

I'm glad you asked.
Rockjaw Acero uses exactly the same driver, but with different venting treatment.
Also the front of the driver has a perforrated metal grill.
Don't mind the mods...
